Monica of Newark NJ (8/23/02):
I have returned to the storage facility late July and again on yesterday August 22nd. The same spill was still on the floor on my visit in laste July, which led me to believe tha the facility was not being properly cleaned. On August 22nd, I found something even more disturbing. The place was infested with bugs (ie. roaches and spiders). As I was walking down the corridors leading to my storage unit, there were piles of live and dead bugs, and spider webs everywhere. It was then evident that the facility was not only not being cleaned, but was not being exterminated. I fought off the bugs and spider to enter my storage unit and found more live and dead bugs in the plastic on my mattress, entertainment center and attached to the plastic tape on my boxes. I was outraged. purchased a disposable camera and took photos of what I found. I spoke to the facility manager Pat, who informed me that indeed the place WAS NOT being CLEANED or EXTERMINATED on a regular basis. She told me their policy was daily cleaning and monthly extermination by a guy named Mike. Pat conplained that Mike was hired by the manager and thought that he was exempt from doing a good job cleaning and that the exterminator had not shown for over a month. Pat also informed me that she had complained about Mike in the past, but he was not fired. Pat apologized for the inconvenience this caused me, and said that they were trying to work out a contract with a company called Allison and that they would be exterminating at the beginning of next week. Next week is too late. The damage to my goods has already been done. My things are riddled with dead and live bugs. At minimum the storage facility should be kept clean and vermin free. |
