Ford Tries to Swat Pesky Gnat

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 27, 1999 -- Ford Motor Co. has won a restraining order against Robert Lane, whose Web site, Blue Oval News -- has been publishing material that Ford claims is confidential and proprietary information.

The site contains what appear to be internal Ford documents on such topics as emission standards, diesel reliability and fuel economy. Lane says he will go to jail and stage a hunger strike rather than reveal the identities of his sources.
