Websites Hawking Phone Records Shut Down |

A notice on the company's four internet sites said it will no longer accept new orders and will not process any pending orders. Crist and the attorneys general of Illinois and Missouri had sued the company to block its operations. Crist filed the state's lawsuit on January 24, charging that the company was in violation of Florida's Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act and civil conspiracy laws. The litigation is still active. "This is great news for the people of Florida," said Crist. "Stopping the flagrant invasion of privacy was the goal of this lawsuit and, at a minimum, these outrageous websites are down. We will continue to pursue those who seek to make a buck at the expense of others." The sites targeted by the Attorney General and now shut down include: locatecell.com, celltolls.com, datafind.org, and peoplesearchamerica.com. Individuals visiting any of those sites will now find the following message:
