February 6, 2007
A certified nurse's assistant was arrested in Kingston, Penn., when he was found partially nude near a 90-year-old Alzheimer's patient, authorities said. David Michael Gula, was released on bail the day after the incident at Kingston Commons Nursing Home. Gula, 27, was charged with criminal attempt to commit rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, institutional sexual assault and indecent assault. He was arrested early Sunday after a nursing supervisor called police around 12:45 a.m. "to report that an employee was involved in sexual misconduct with" the elderly woman, the Scranton Times-Tribune reported. The woman's only local relative expressed disgust with the lurid accusations. "We're all upset over this. You think they are put in good hands, but you don't know who their employees are,” said the woman's 84-year-old sister, according to the Times-Tribune. "It's very shocking to the family." Investigators said DNA evidence found near the resident is being analyzed and the investigation continues. Police didn't rule out additional charges. Report Your Experience
