LA Weight Loss Settles With Washington ... Again
Washington Reaches Settlements with LA Weight Loss Program

The dollars fall away. The pounds? Now that's another matter. There's no end of plans, programs, gurus, diets and schemes out there, all promising easy, effortless weight loss. All of them are happy to take your money. However, actually losing weight isn't as easy ... nor is getting your money back if you decide to quit the program, as many LA Weight Loss clients have found out.

If you have any existing health problems -- diabetes, high blood pressure, depression -- or if you're taking prescription medications, it's very important to check with your doctor before starting any new diet.

Also, it's important to realize that getting out of the program can be difficult, not to mention expensive.

I signed up for LA Weight Loss on Saturday, August 28, 2007. When I signed up, Bobbi, who was the store manager told me it would take me a year and one half at least to lose the weight I needed to lose. I could not afford the cost and was encouraged to sign up with Care Credit to get started. I was told that if I would buy the bars and the pills that they said I would need that I could save a lot of money.

Almost immediately I started having trouble getting the products that I was supposed to have. Some of the vitamin products I only got once. Some of the things that were supposed to be available when I signed up were never available. On top of that I only lost 10 pounds. I followed the program exactly, but it never worked. After 4 months of being told it was stress, that I wasn't eating enough and not being able to get the bars that I was supposed to use twice a day, I told Bobbi I wanted my money back. She said I wasn't the only one who was dissatisfied, and filled out a refund application on December 28, 2007. I heard nothing. I called several times. Finally, I got to talk to Deb Tighe who was the new manager. Bobbi never even signed the form she filled out. Deb said that there was nothing to show that Bobbi had ever sent anything in. Deb filled out another form and found that Bobbi hadn't even given me credit for what I was owed. Care Credit is charging me for 2,192.25 of product that I never received.

I have been on social security disability for many years. My physical condition is difficult for me and makes it harder to lose weight because I can't exercise much. It also means that I cannot work so that my husband and I are having a harder and harder time keeping up financially. This situation is very hard on my emotional health. I am fighting depression all the time. It is causing me to feel extremely worthless that I have done something to make life harder.

I was always an intelligent person and I thought I was pretty savvy, but these people have ruined me. I would like to be able to attend Weight Watchers all the time, but money is too tight. I really am afraid that this business will cause irreparable harm to my marriage. Just thinking about it makes my husband so angry. He doesn't blame me, but I blame myself because I got us into it.

I was a client and I lost 50lb's so the manager thought I would be a great counselor as well. So I went through all the training and became a counselor. I thought I would be helping other people to loose weight like I did. However the pressure was on to sell, sell, sell the products and don't care about the clients so much. Get them in the door and out as soon as possible but get as much out of them.

I was more into the helping of the clients I was treated with disrespect from the Manager. She made me really uncomfortable. She gave me the worst hours and then went so far as to give me a 5 hour split shift when she knew I lived 25 miles way. She also made up a lie that I was being rude to the customers and my co-workers also agreed that the other person that also has the same name as mine was the one being rude to the clients, however that person made more for LA. So you know it came down to the and they really didn't care about the people! I have since quit them as a counselor.

When I was in training we watched a video with the owner talking about La Weight Loss and he admitted to buying it to make money.

The Manager at the other center that I weight in at was not very nice to me after that point so i'm not really sure what that was all about. So who want's to go somewhere that makes them uncomfortable and I was also put under pressure to buy, buy, buy, I knew what it was albout now so I quit the center as well

I don't think I will ever trust a program again that make you sign a contract. Also Dont become a employee after you have been a client. I a'm out my money because I knew it would be impossible to get any money back!

In May of 2008 I joined LA Weight Loss in Gresham. I only had about 8 pounds to lose but paid for the year to do it.We were going on a cruise and wanted to lose the 8 lbs. It seemed like it should have been simple but it didn't work, despite the Lites, the LA Slim drink and the set meal plans (2 of each food group/day). I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I saw the centers were closing. There were so many things that should have been red flags to me, but like everyone else, I didn't want to believe these people weren't professionals who knew nothing about nutrition or weight loss.

On the Jenny Craig program 10 years ago I lost 20 lbs and kept it off until about a year ago when I started playing tennis on a regular basis and couldn't get it off. I had gone back to JC but didn't like setting up an appointment once a week and again it seemed like they cared less about me than selling the program. I honestly thought LA was different but alas--they weren't. As of their closing my center in Gresham, they owe me 200. I'd like very much to be a part of a class action lawsuit to get my money back.

Because I signed up for 63 weeks and pre-paid the amount they wrote, they owe me 200 as a result of their closing in Dec. 2008.

I became a member of LA Weight Loss but had put my program on hold due to being pregnant. When I wanted to go back to complete my program and receive the bars I PAID for, they were closed. No letter, no phone calls, etc. I have tried repeatedly to leave messages and emails but never get a response, or get a full mailbox response. What can I do? I have paid for over 80 boxes of bars that I have not received! I want my money back! Please help! Now I don't have the services or products that I paid for in full to complete my weight loss!

I am out well over 1,000 and cannot get the LA Lite Bars I paid for to complete my program. I paid for this on Care Credit with interest. I feel totally ripped off. No warning or help was offered, just bogus phone numbers.
