The dollars fall away. The pounds? Now that's another matter. There's no end of plans, programs, gurus, diets and schemes out there, all promising easy, effortless weight loss. All of them are happy to take your money. However, actually losing weight isn't as easy ... nor is getting your money back if you decide to quit the program, as many LA Weight Loss clients have found out.
If you have any existing health problems -- diabetes, high blood pressure, depression -- or if you're taking prescription medications, it's very important to check with your doctor before starting any new diet.
Also, it's important to realize that getting out of the program can be difficult, not to mention expensive.

Carla of Vancouver WA (12/02/08) I just heard they are closing their doors. Was registered with the address above who is no longer open. Called the Salmon Creek location but there is not an option to speak with a human being. Tried their main website to contact them and keep getting kicked back.
I still have a credit on prepurchased bars I would like to recover. I was told they would still be reachable online but am now doubting that.

Michael of Cornwall PE (11/26/08) Myself as well as many other people,who joined LA Weightloss Centre in Charlottetown,P.E.I. were told they are going out of business and given an email address to contact for a refund but when we try to email them we get no response, as well no phone number was given as well.

Mary of Casper WY (11/21/08) They charged me 400.00 for a weight loss program and then closed their doors and are no longer operating the business.
I have paid for a diet program and am not able to use the program or the product I bought from them. Financial Hardship-I am unemployed and in ill health and needed to loss weight because of my illness. This has brought me physical as well as a emotional and financial hardship.

Gaylyn of Albany OR (11/19/08) I joined LA Weight loss and experienced absolutely everything that the complaint has delievered. I signed up in Corvallis, OR and soon that store was closed without notice. I had my file moved to Salem, OR and kept up with all that they needed from me. The straw that broke the camels back is this.... I lost my weight and should have gotten over 400.00 back.
At first I complained, and they said they lost my chart. Excuse after excuse. They promised that on November 5, 2008, I would have my check in the mail. It has NEVER arrived and they do NOT return phone calls.
I live in Albany, OR. and signed up at Corvallis, OR. During my first visit they said that there soon would be an Albany location. I did everything they told me to do, purchased their candy bars etc. with the promise if I got my weight off, money would be returned to me... The first economic damage I had was that they NEVER opened an Albany location, causing me to burn gas into Corvallis... and there hours were always changing.. less and less time were they in the office.
After many months of driving there, they closed Corvallis with just a mere note on the front door. It said that we could go into the Salem, OR location, which I did. I kept up with this because of the promise of getting 1/2 of my money back. I have had my weight off for a very long time and have received absolutely NO money back. Just a lot of excuses, etc.
Mentally and economically I was damaged.
I do want to be contacted by an attorney.
