Buy.com

I ordered a couple of things from buy.com in August 2008. Without my authorization, they gave my information such as name, home address and American Express number (which i used to buy the items) to discountshoppers.com who then charged me 12 in January 2009 and February 2009 each month to be in their discount service program. I only noticed this on my Amex statement. Amex is great because they are giving me credit for 24 since I didn't authorize the charges.

I called discountshoppers.com directly and asked them how they got my personal info and they claim I signed up for the discount program when I ordered from buy.com. I never did such a thing. I'm going to contact the Attorney General's office to make a formal complaint about this fraud that buy.com and discountshoppers.com are running.

my valuable time wasted

On 2/24 I ordered a Clover CDR4770 4-Channel Digital Video Recorder, which was advertised as In Stock and Very few left In Stock! Order soon -- product may sell out. Funds were authorized to pay for the order. In e-commerce, one would not expect to have funds authorized unless the item is indeed in stock and will be shipped. However, 2 days later, Buy.com's apparent supplier for the product informed me that the item sold out before the order was sent to them by Buy.com.

This was disappointing, even more upsetting was the fact that the item was still listed as IN STOCK on the buy.com website. Many banks will keep such authorizations as pending for 8 days so even after the order is cancelled due to being unfulfillable, the funds are not available to me. Advertising products as IN STOCK and claiming that your card will not be charged until your order ships is a deceptiv practice when indeed funds are authorized on out of stock items.

I had limited funds available to complete the project, due to misleading statements on the Buy.com website and substandard practices, the project will be completed much later than expected.

Buy.com prides itself to guarantee their prices. If you can find an identical item for less at certain other vendors, they promise to match that price. I purchased a USB HD tuner stick from Buy.com only to get an advertisement from them 3 days later that advertised the same product for 10 less When I called Buy.com customer service to have them refund me the difference, they insisted that that is only practiced as long as they have the item in stock,- and they just ran out... That sure does not make any sense to me since I did purchase- and receive the item from their stock.

Furthermore they were actively selling the item on their website. Secondly I purchased a laptop computer (factory refurbished) that they advertised with a 1 year warranty. When I received it the warranty had changed to 90 days. Upon intensive back- and forth they admitted that the product briefly? had been advertised incorrectly, but that it was immediately corrected, and that they would not honor the brief mistake. I recommend anyone to stay away from Buy.com. Their glory days are over and there is no integrity nor loyalty left.

USB HD Tuner: 10 Laptop extended warranty: 90

Horrible experience, totally ignored when computer would not work at all. Hard drive was bad, no customer service, no response, no responsibility, no integrity, would avoid Buy.com at all costs, a warning to everyone!

Totally on my own to repair at my expense!
