Madbags.com

Susan of Marlboro NY (1/5/04):
I like to shop on-line for convenience and have never had problems before. I got an e-mail from Madbags stating they were having a sale on handbags and wallets and so I checked out the items for sale. I selected a handbag and wallet. I received the handbag first, which was on sale for $10 off the original price. I felt it would be safe to order from this site as the picture of the bag looked nice and under their materials used information, they stated what good quality their bags were - made from great materials, and how happy and satisfied I would be when it arrived.

The bag was horrific! It came in a bubble envelope all crushed up without any stuffing in the bag so it would keep its shape. It was not even wrapped in protective plastic. The bag cost $70 on sale plus delivery and looks as though it cost $5 in a discount store. I was appalled that they would even try to pass this item off to me after what I paid for it. I was so upset at being ripped-off that I immediately e-mailed them and told them how terribly unhappy I was with the value I received for the amount of money I paid and that I wanted to return the item.

I was answered by a representive that called me "irrational" and he/she would not discuss it with me until I became rational. In the meatime I received another e-mail stating the wallet was on back-order and my credit card had been credited for this amount (which I was very happy about as I would have returned the wallet anyway after all of this) . I was not asked if I wanted a credit or to cancel the wallet order. So I figured I would be "rational" and not again express my EXTREME DISSATISFACTION in another e-mail to the same representative. This time I was told he/she was working with me but would lose his/her job if they were to accept the item as returned. He/she said all they could do was give me 20% off ANOTHER product (like I would order AGAIN from them after seeing what their products were like!) and they would also throw in another item "free". Wow!
