PayPal got me paying for a negative balance so they claim when I sent money on more than one occasion to the same place all of a sudden now I don't have money in my bank account to cover about 2 payments when I been sending money the same way for almost a year and I know for absolutely sure I had the money in my bank account because I sent the funds the same day I get paid every week. So where did my money go to is what I want to know.

Upon opening business account with PayPal for my side gig decided to give it a test run to learn how process is going to work before I directed customers how to pay me. So asked a family member to pay for small invoice I created and sent link to their email. As soon as money was received this scam predatory company Pay-pal closes my account not only business but personal as well without sufficient explanation and aggressive statements that they are not releasing my fund for 120 days and will charge me $30 for High volume dispute fee...which is used to charge customers if they do too many transactions per month. This was my first and only transactions..

By closing both account they cut off any means of me contacting them because it's required to log in to speak with support. Do not make a mistake and think you have account with them because it is not yours it's theirs and they do whatever they want. I immediately took steps to initiate charge back to this Terrible Predatory Unethical Platform called Pay-Pal... Keep your distance away from these Scammers.

I am completely unsatisfied. I been using PayPal for years but now I will start highly recommend you don't use PayPal. I sent 70 to my friend and she didn't want to set up a PayPal which that's her right but they won't give me my money back. I'm so upset. I work really hard for my money, and it's just not right at all. Unless they make this right, I will continue to let everyone know and seek lawer so I'll be back to update you guys and hopefully change the rating. I just want my money back.

PayPal likes to hold your money hostage, no matter how small the amount. It's ridiculous and a way for them to gain interest on your money.

I have had multiple issues with them recently and their customer service is not great. They make promises they can't keep and customer service is abhorrent.

Really painful and horrible customer non-service. The chat bot is of course completely stupid but the supposedly live person is not much better. I might have to rethink dealing with PayPal.

I had a customer send me a mere 150€ and PayPal held the money for days, closed my account without explanation and nearly ten days later, have not returned the funds to the sender. I think that PayPal is discriminatory and predatory and should be avoided because apparently, they are allowed to seize funds without explanation. I find it quite telling about the evil and corrupt world that we live in that, though a growing number of Israeli settlers are having their assets frozen by American/European financial institutions, but PayPal is still transferring funds out of its Jerusalem office without goyim wait-times!

I have used PayPal for over 15 years. They use to protect their patrons from any kind of fraud. But now they don't protect you in any way. They make it difficult to file a dispute and It's impossible to speak to a human being either online or by phone. They hold onto your funds for months with no resolve and when they finally do give you a determination they will never provide you with a refund. They do not investigate the fraud or they simply excuse it so that they are no longer responsible. It has become very clear that they are not interested in running an honest business. As a result I will no longer be doing business with them.

I am a long‑time professional who trusted PayPal to handle my direct deposits from a legitimate employer, and they failed me in the most damaging way possible. For over a year and a half, PayPal accepted my deposits without any issue, never once requesting identification or suggesting that anything was wrong. Then, out of nowhere, they froze access to my own money and claimed they suddenly needed ID verification—something they never asked for at the beginning. This abrupt and unexplained change has caused severe financial harm, and it makes no sense that a company handling people’s livelihoods can operate with such inconsistency and disregard.

Because of PayPal’s actions, I am now unable to pay my rent or even buy food, all while money that rightfully belongs to me sits locked behind a process they should have initiated from day one. Their customer service has been unhelpful, slow, and dismissive, leaving me with no clear timeline or solution. No professional should ever have their income held hostage like this, especially after months of smooth transactions. PayPal’s negligence has put me in a crisis, and I want others to know how devastating their sudden policy shifts and lack of accountability can be. David

PayPal author review by Tammy Burns

PayPal was founded in 1998, and eBay acquired it in 2002. The company now has nearly 200 million active customers, and in 2015 the company hosted approximately 4.9 billion transactions. Customers in more than 200 countries can use the company’s services and hold money in their accounts in 25 different currencies. Consumers can use the service to transfer money to other individuals, pay bills, make online purchases, make donations and obtain financing.

      • Online payments: Consumers can use PayPal to check out on millions of websites. Those who are uncomfortable putting their credit card information on lots of different sites can pay with PayPal, ensuring their information is stored with a single company.

      • Credit: PayPal Credit is the company’s financing option, which lets customers have flexible payment options. It can be used online, in stores and even to send money to someone else. Availability is subject to credit approval.

      • App: Using the PayPal app, customers can make purchases in brick-and-mortar stores with their PayPal account, send money from their mobile device and check out with PayPal when shopping on their device. The app is available for Apple, Android and Microsoft devices.

      • Recurring payments: Consumers can use their PayPal account to set up recurring payments for subscriptions for a variety of services, including Spotify, Netflix, Angie’s List, match.com, ancestry.com and more.

      • Fees: Customers do not pay fees when they make a purchase with their PayPal account. When consumers send money to another individual’s PayPal account and use money already in their PayPal account or in a bank account linked to their PayPal account, there is no fee.
