Both of my dogs are in the hospital in renal failure due to the latest recall. They are very sick and fighting to survive we had to move them from Willow Park to Texas A & M Vet Hospital for proper care, they have been on fluid therapy since 04/16 and have been sick since 04/13... Our bills are piling up! 10K at least at this point and they may not be better for a couple more weeks!

Myself and my husband have had to miss work for a week now and counting. We are at a hotel 5 hours from home.

Mary of Weymouth, MA April 19, 2007

I have kept up on the recall of the pet foods. My dog started showing symptoms, more frequent urination, drinking more water and lacked energy. I suspected the food but the Mighty Dog canned food is said to be okay. In fact even today their website stated as such.

This morning my dog was very agitated, pacing and crying which he never does.  I took him to the vet. I called Mighty dog and the woman told me that yes the canned food had been recalled last week!  The woman told me to email the company (great...meantime people continue to feed this poison to their dogs).

I am awaiting tests the vet ran which should come back tomorrow. I am angry that up to this point they led me to believe the food was okay and that they neglected to warn people about the food. Even after I called them, this afternoon, the website still said the canned food was okay.

Shame on you for letting this go any further than it has. My dogs are 13 and 9 years old, they are MY CHILDREN! They are on their second visit to the vet. I will be that person that will never stop until someone can figure out what to do. I have spent more that enough on food, that keeps getting recalled...and on vet bills. Someone needs to compensate!

We had a terrible experience in the later part of August early September. Our cat Binks was having trouble urinating. Binks was one and a half years old a beloved cat that lived inside and was taken the very best care of. Then after 3 attempts of unblocking him he went into complete renal failure. He was perfectly healthy and then one day it just hit. It did not make since to me how this could have happened.

Some one should be responsible for these deaths our poor kids cried for months over their cat and my boy still cries at night over it. Because of the renal failure I had to have him put to sleep after 1000.00 of vet bills I couldn't save him. They said there was no hope to save him.

My dog stopped walking,(could not get up) and drinking or eating. This has never happened before. I immediately took her to the vet. He keep her for days on IV and meds not knowing what was wrong as it was before they publicized a problem. The hardest thing I had to do was put a sweet healthy dog to sleep all of a sudden. Never should one company be able to manufacture so many foods, this would have been controlled better.

I ended up in emergency room at Hospital with high blood pressure and feeling llike I was having a heart attach (it was a panic atttach) being so stressed and upset with him not getting better and the vet saying we would give him one more day to see if any improvement, but unfortunately that never happened.

My golden retriever buddy who is 1 and a half years old became extremely ill, vomiting for a week and a half to two weeks straight. while eating this product. My poor dog spent morning till night eating a pile of grass then throwing it up, over and over again. I thought Buddy was going to die.

Nutro did not recall their dry dog food and almost killed my dog. And could have caused permanent damage to my very healthy dog who is my 11 year old sons best friend. This is appalling.

Lyn of Maple Park, IL April 9, 2007

Don't know if my pet's (dog) problem is related to the food. But two weeks ago, she became very ill coughing and bumps all over her body. The vet thought pnemonia. Then she thought blastomycoccis. After spending roughly 3,500.00 for tests and hospital stays, the vet does not know what it is or was. I don't know if this has anything to do w/pet food. But we do not know what it is from. I am definately scared to feed her any dog food.

Jennifer of Ft Lauderdale, FL April 9, 2007

I bought 2 bags of Iam puppy in the 20# bags (dry) 3 days later my dog was sooo sick I know it is not part of the recall but he was diagnosed with 32 different infectious bacteria and vomiting, bloody-water stool hair loss and extreme gas. When we rushed him to the vet 6 other dogs had the same problem -- all on similar food! My dog is an indoor dog, he does not get into anything like trash. The vet would not give me a straight answer on what could cause this for fear of name slinging if a lawsuit were to come out of this but I am very concerned! 600 dollars later my dog is doing better..... Not 100% but better. If you were to ask my opinion he was poisoned -- all the signs were there and I being a vet assistant in my younger days I felt that was my situation.

Rita of Mayport, PA April 9, 2007

Our dear little poodle Bitzie started to not feel well the last of Nov. 2006 so I started her on Iams wet food and dry foods thinking she wasn,t getting the right food as I mostly feed home-cooking. I took her to the dr. because she was coughing and started to not keep her food down also she started to pee in the house witch she never did.We got meds for her but she didn't seem to unprove. Within a couple of weeks she died in my arms. Nothing anyone could do can ease my broken heart .I miss my baby so much. I landed in the hospital a week afer she died some was grief-related

I feel so sad for the people who have lost their pets. I don't think whis letter will mean much to you. But it helps my heart. I loved my Bitzie Bullet so much I called her my cancer dog as she never left my side through all my grief of the loss of my daughter to cancer and myself a double breast cancer. I feel I let my precious pet down.

Bonnie of Elizabeth Lake, CA April 7, 2007

I believe the tainted food was on the market prior to the date they say.I had two cats one was very healthy after eating that food he had kidney failure The vets could not understand why he got so sick so quickly even when I had to put him out of his pain he still had a healthy coat etc. my other cat has ibs and was fed different food. This happened at the end of October.
