We owned a Blue Tick Walker dog worth 300 a Norwegian Blue Tick Walker worth 1000 and 2 Australian Sheppard dogs worth 200 each. We purchased Ole Roy dog food at our local Wal-Mart. The dogs acted listless and no energy. They acted very lethargic. Within a week they were dead.

These pets were not only our pets but they were of economic value to our family.

Rosetta of Frankfort, IN April 6, 2007

Last Saturday morning, we had a sweet little healthy Dauchshund who was almost nine years old, eating her breakfast as usual and playing ball with my hubsnad.  By late afternoon, she was vomiting, laying around and breathing heavily.  We nursed her through the night, taking her to the vet early the next morning, only to see her worsen. As much temp as she had (105), he gave her a penicillin shot and sent her home. The next day we had to put her to sleep.  We are so upset.

Paula of Braintree, MA April 6, 2007

My cat food was on the list of recalled foods. Unfortunately my cat had already consumed many cans for weeks prior to the recall. We had to put him to sleep on March 29 as he was in kidney failure.

Susan of Reno, NV April 5, 2007

My 20 year old son had a 6 month old puppy mix of pit bull and not sure the other mix. He fed his dog Roscoe different varieties of wet can dog food cannot remember the names right off hand. After doing that the puppy became very ill. No appetite vomiting blood and blood in his diarrhea. Stayed this way for more than 4 days. Called the veternarian, he had no money to take the dog to be looked at. They said because he was a puppy he probably had parvo. After researching on the internet parvo symptoms it seemed like that what it was. Without money to be treated no one would help him. They said he would go quick and to just stay with him. My son literally could not get any help from anyone. He had to watch his dog die in his home and take his last breath. He basically suffered to the end. I link this to the dog food recall, he was very healthy up until then.

Barbara of Holtsville, NY April 5, 2007

My dog Peanut a 12 lb. Shetland sheepdog experienced seizues on 2/13/07had a neurologic episode resulting in seizures which doctor's believed was kidney related findings were not medically induced and doctors did not nknow what caused this problem . I believe it was tainted food.

Peanut is ok but this resulted in a 2,000.00 emergency vet bill.

Joanne of Desert Hot Springs, CA April 4, 2007

I believe Stater Brothers dry pet food reduced calorie for adult dogs should be tested. All 3 of my dogs got sick on it and I removed the rest and started feeding something else, and this was a couple of weeks BEFORE any recall info was available. Someone needs to test DRY Food as well.

My mini-doxie can't keep his hind legs under him anymore and is lethargic. My toy rat terrier threw up all the time and suffered from bloating. Both dogs bloated up.

Alisa of Newark, DE April 3, 2007

My dog was given dog treats, but died just a week ago and my mother says the vet told her it was from the dog treats that we were feeding her. We just thought the dog food was contaminated; but I guess not.

    It killed her.

Ed of Yucaipa, CA April 2, 2007

My cat died after eating Special Kitty.

Debra of Fort Walton Beach, FL April 2, 2007

My cat was admitted to our vet for 6 days with kidney failure. She is a 5 year old indoor cat. Our vet could not understand what caused this. I purchased 36 pouches of the Special Kitty food from Wal-Mart, she had eaten 8 pouches. She is on several medications. This is wrong....we all should not be going thru this.

Joseph of Bonita Springs, FL April 1, 2007

Our 17 year old cat has been sick for about one year, she went from a 12lb. cat to 6lbs, other symptoms include, vomiting, thirst, the vet just passed it off as an old cat. We finally traced the problem to new dry cat food which we had purchased at Costco. We believe a lot of dry food contains this wheat gluten and the problem is more widespread and older than people think. We have removed all dry food from the cat and she has stabilized although the vet indicates she has compromised kidney function.

Would like this to be a warning to othere pet owners, beware of all wheat gluten, we don't believe the whole story is out yet!
