Here are complaints about Menu and other assorted pet foods. For complaints about specific foods, see: Angela of Alamo, CA April 1, 2007
Toni of Lafollette, TN March 29, 2007
My dog has elevated kidney numbers and low kidney output numbers. She ate the Menu recalled dog food. I'm not interested in a lawsuit. I just want the company to know how extensive this poisoning has been. I called the company and they told me someone would get back to me. I haven't heard anything from them. Vet bills so far, 201.00. We have to go back for more blood work tomorrow to see if her numbers are going back to normal of if she has permanent damage. Constance of Newberry, FL March 28, 2007 Our perfectly healthy Great Dane, Tiny, stopped eating and was only drinking, then she started throwing up; soon enough she was lethargic and would just lie around and moan. After that she spent an entire day at the vet’s office receiving IV fluids and having blood drawn so they could send it off for tests. Soon enough it was determined that she had advanced kidney disease. No longer even drinking more than a lick or two of water at a time, we even tried to hand feed her and placed bowls of water next to her head but she wouldn’t even try anymore. Today my daughter and I looked up the recall on the internet and compared the various cans of dog food we have still at the house. Unfortunately 2 of the 4 brands we have are on the recall list(s). The first vet visit cost us 500.00. Over the next few days we were eaten up with guilt watching her slowly die and decided to ask the vet to put her to sleep (another cost of 200.00). It's hard to describe how much she meant to all of us, she was very smart and large, these features combined with her personality made her like a member of our family and this was very hard for all of us to deal with. I've never had to make a decision like that and hope to never have to again. This is so sad and I’ll miss her forever. Sabrina of Indianapolis, IN March 28, 2007 I fed my perfectly healthy Rottweiler one 22oz. can of Choice Cuts in sauce Country Stew Pedigree can food. Within a few weeks Meg (my dog) started loosing weight, not drinking, throwing up, and eating very little. Meg also started to urinate on her bed while she was sleeping. When Meg was taken to the vet she was given 2 bags of IV fluids and a shot for an upset stomach. Full blood work was also done on Meg and the vet told us the results would be back the next day. Meg was sent home with pill for an upset stomach that should have helped her eat and drink and be able to keep food down, this medication did not work. The next day the vet contacted us and informed us that Meg was in total renal failure and there was nothing that could be done to help her. On 3-16-2007 the decision was made to put Meg to sleep because she was totally lifeless and laid in the floor and her whole body shook. Meg was more than just a dog she was a part of our family for eight years! Dave of Lisle, IL March 27, 2007
My dog was my child and has been with me for 13+ years. The amount of pain I am going through for my loss of my best friend is undescribable. There are many finacial losses due to my dogs health and the final days before she was put to sleep. The void left is unmeasurable, but we want to make sure that something good comes out of this, be it more strict policies on food quality or money that can go to help other aminals in need. Tammy of Watertown, CT March 27, 2007
I paid about 600 in vet bills thus far. I ahve contacted Iams to seek repayment. I still have the food, in the orginal the bag...barley touched. My goal is to have the questions/concerns in regards to the safety of the pet foods adequately addressed. There are too many questions out there still. Linda of Long Beach, CA March 25, 2007
Crystal of Taylor, MI March 24, 2007
Laurie of Chino Hills, CA March 23, 2007
There were no bills incurred, just the emotional lost of a beloved pet. I have bills and bank statements from over the year from where her food was purchased. Victoria of Brownsburg, IN March 23, 2007
He slept with me on a nightly basis and all night he just whimpered. Everytime he moved he cried. I also noticed that the entire day before he was not eating or drinking any water. The next morning I woke and he had labored breathing and more lethargic than the night before. That is when I decided to take him to the vet. I wrapped him in a warm towel and took him in on the way in I noticed he was extracting puss out of his eyes and the whites of his eyes were yellow. Once in the vets office he had a BM which was nothing but blood! After that he was done. The Vet said that there was nothing she could do at that point but to put him down. I lost my dog. I lost a part of my family! Report Your Experience
