Two of my pets were vomiting clear or slightly yellow fluid. Both were hospitalized and died the same evening they were admitted to bellport animal hospital.

Yohance of Pacoima, CA March 23, 2007

We owned two full-breed boxer puppies approximately 4 months old, raised them since birth. Three weeks ago they both became very ill, dehydrated, and weak. Biscuit, our female boxer went into what appeared to be some sort of seizure, heavy panting and extreme thirst. She had a couple of spasms and died right in front of us. Brownie our male boxer showed symptoms of thirst and excessive urination. He also began to favor one side of his body.

One day after Biscuit died, we rushed Brownie into the vet. He received IV fluids, antibiotics, and completed blood work. He seems to be doing better however he still has excessive urination, and has to go in for more blood testing.

We fed both our pups Iams chicken in gravy, puppy w/beef & chicken in gravy. After Vet visits, medications, and bloodwork we have spent approximately 500 in vet bills. We currently possess blood tests on Brownie which show abnormal results in several key areas. This has been a horrible experience for our family. Our two young children ages 7 and 9, have been greatly affected by the death of Biscuit. We are praying that Brownie does not have permit kidney damage.

My cat, Murphy has been in the hospital for 3 days now. He experienced the same symptoms as the cats I have read about. He quit eating, drank water to excess and was always in the litter box. The sad part is he survived being caught for 28 days in a neighbors animal trap two years ago. He suffered a crushed hind leg and lost over half of his body weight and still managed to drag himself home. It took awhile, but he came back and was back to normal. Now, after eating contaminated Authority brand pet food, he is has lost all of the weight he gained back, and is in renal failure. We have no idea what the cost is, but whatever it is, he is worth trying to save.

He is still hospitalized and we do not know the cost.

Our family cat started to get sick 2 to 3 weeks ago losing weight, vomiting bile, no apatite. Took him to the vet on the 16 and had blood work done. Kidney values were two times higher then they should be. Later that day food recall was announced from Menu Food. Have been calling them 4 times a day at least, different times of the day either busy or the system was overloaded and to try calling back later. On Sunday there was an email address on the web site that was gone on Monday, after we got home from second visit with the vet. Cat is currently going through dialysis here at home 200ml of liquid every 2 - 3 days to flush his kidneys.

Over 200 in vet bills to this point, mental anguish over how this could happen, and a very real chance of having to euthanize him before this is over... he was completely healthy just one month ago. Other than the kidneys he is in good physical health.

I had a 9 week old healthy yorkie puppy, who died from toxin and/or unknown subtance in her stomach that showed up on xrays on March 16. She would not eat or drink for two days prior to her death and began to have seizures and her organs begain to shut down. She had eaten a small amount of cuts n gravy from another dogs bowl and by the afternoon she was very thirsty, but would not drink water.

I had to rush my puppy to the vet and later to the emerency hospital, total of 625.00, plus the cost of the registered yorkie. This was a birthday present for my 13 yr old daughter, not to mention the pain and suffering this has caused on the family.

I am almost certain that my dog may have died from eating this tainted dog product. I am the surviving ownwer of a PURE BREED Dorgue De Bordeaux better known as a French Mastiff, named Baggy whom we were forced to and with our deepest sadness put down last year on 3/16/06. It is the strangest thing that we just mourned the 1 year death of our dog Baggy who we treated as one of our kids. Its very shocking how this news comes exactly 1 year to the date of our dogs demise.

We purchased our dog from a certified Breeder on approx 9/1/02, he was born on 6/9/02 of a royal blood line in terms of canines.  He was current and up to date on all vacinations, and was in fine condition at age 4 years he weighed approx 150 lbs. as you can tell he was no small animal, then one day in late january he began to act strangely he stopped getting up and coming to the door when I came in which everyone who ever met my dog knows that he was my shadow, and he began to sleep all the time. His gait became unsteady and he began to drink enormous amounts of wates, while his food intake steaily declined.

I had my husband take him to the vet for the first time I believe on 2/18/06 where he was given an IV for dehydration an ultrasound, xrays, catheter and other medical intervention and a1-6 hour overnight in ICU all to the tune of 973.00. When my Baggy dog came home he looked a little less tired and at least wagged his tale a little bit. We received a call from the vet that our dog now weighed 130lbs, had splenomegaly(enlarged spleen) and enlarged lymph/prescapula nodes amongst other things. He was given prescription meds zantac and released to us. That was the beginning of the end for my Baggy Dog.

I began surfing the internet going to the library trying to get a handle on what was happening to my dog so suddenly. within 24 hrs our dog was unable to hold his urine could not eat and would vomit every time he took a swallow of water so we return to a larger veterinary office which the first emer vet refered us who again administered IV fluids etc.. but this time did more extensive testing blood work included. which came up to 873.00 we were told that our dog possibly had Canine Lymphoma and would need a biopsy, and definately was in renal failure.

We contacted the breeder to check on our Baggy's siblings all who were placed with other families throughout NYC and the rest of the countries and not one of the other dogs were having these issues.

Over the next few weeks we continued to watch our sweet Baggy dogs decline until he struggled and finally could barely get to his feet, and he could not even bend over to get a sip of water so we elevated his bowls but he only threw it up 2 min later, so I began to take a 8oz bottle and hand feed him the water, he stopped eating completely so the meds were impossible to administer, and then he began to urinate every few minutes everywhere, we couldn't sleep at night for fear and we had to get up every few minutes to let him outside. My daughters school work started suffering, no one could rest. Then one day our big beautiful dog who had previously been a house dog and my shadow went outside and stayed in this little corner on the side of our home staring into space and I tried to coax hime in but he couldn't even stand and I knew that he was waiting to die.

Belinda of Burbank, CA March 21, 2007

My 7-year old tabby cat died of kidney failure mid August, 2006. It is to no surprise that products are being recalled today for killing beloved pets. I took my cat to the vet, it was too late, I asked local shelters what to do and a cat shelter had advised me that I should not have fed my cat Friskies because she has known it to kill.

I lost a close family member - my cat Tazz, along with the hundreds of dollars I had invested in it over its lifetime in vet care and feeding; while the pet food industry was conniving away in the scam of the century.

Tamara of Apo, OTHER March 20, 2007

My German Sheppard passed away mysteriously in December 2007. He fell sick and would not eat anything. He would only drink water and lay around. He was also drooling a lot from the mouth. Due to the fact that I have two dogs I never considered it being the food because my rottweiler did not get sick.

My dog passed away. I am now stationed in Japan. At the time of his death I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. My shepard was part of my family for four years. This has been very hard for me and my children.

Kelly of Barnegat, NJ March 20, 2007

I bought the Ol'Roy canned dog food for my dog, not realizing the potential dangerous effect it had on her. Since the beginning of February my 6 year old Brittany Spaniel started urinating frequently and in all places on my carpeting. We have now come to realize that this was in part to the contaminated food that was distributed to my local Walmart store from December '06 to March '07. I feel that whoever distributed this product should be responsible in any way.

I've had to live for the last month with urine stained carpeting in my living room (where my kids watch tv) and in my own personal bedroom. The smell is outrageous, and it's not even humid out yet. We have rented rug cleaners and to no avail did not last for she was still urinating.

Unforfunately I do not have the money to replace carpeting so now my family has to live with urine stained and urine smell carpeting! And not to mention the Vetenarian Bills!

Wendy of Washington, DC March 20, 2007

My cat regularly ate Eukanuba Cuts with Savory Chicken and Gravy. He ate 3-4 3 oz cans of this food daily. He suffered acute renal failure beginning on February 20; I had to put him down on February 23.

The consequences range from a 600+ veterinary bill to enormous personal loss/grief.
