Ol Roy Pet Foods |

Franklin of Jacksonville AR (04/11/07) On Friday April 6, 2007, I bought a bag of Ol Roy Complete Nutrition For Dogs Dry Food at my local Wal-Mart. I felt safe because that wasn't supposed to be recalled. I started feeding it to 3 of my dogs, that same day. My other dog is a toy breed and needs special food, so he didn't eat any of it. The 3 dogs that ate the food were a 10 month old Husky mix male, a 2 year old Chihuahua mix female. and a 6 month old St Bernard mix. On April 8th, 2007, I woke up, fed the dogs (they appeared ok), then I went to do some shopping and other errands. When I got back about 5 hours later, Roxie, my chihuahua mix, was on the ground dead. The other 2 were very ill. I called several local vets trying to find one that would see the dogs without any money up front, as I had just spent my entire paycheck on bills, gas, and groceries. I made 11 phone calls and even though I explained the situation, none of the vets or clinics would see the dogs without payment up front. I searched online, made more calls, and finally located a vet about 300 miles from my home, in Tulsa, OK that said to bring the dogs in and he'd try to help them. I loaded up my kids, wife, and the 2 sick dogs and headed for Tulsa, OK. An hour into the trip, Spicy, our 6 month old female St. Bernard mix died. Zorro, our Husky mix was even sicker, at that point. I had to get gas for the car, so I pulled into a Valero. A guy in the car, next to me, saw the dogs and asked what was wrong. I explained. He said he doubted Zorro would live to get to Tulsa. He said that if I wanted, he'd be willing to adopt him and take him to his own vet for care which was only minutes away. My wife and I gladly accepted his offer. He called his vet on his cell phone and we loaded Zorro in his car. Zorro died before he got to the vet with him. Any of the vets we talked with, the following day, said that they would have to charge us way more money than we could afford to do tests on the dogs bodies to find out why they died. So, we just buried them in the backyard. I belive it was the food that killed my dogs. It was the only thing they were eating. I just wish I had the money to have those tests done to prove it. Sherry of Olive Branch, MS April 4, 2007 Sherry of Olive Branch MS (04/04/07) When I brought her home Monday, March 28, 2007, I had to continue giving her fluids by sticking a needle under her skin twice a day, which consisted of 2 ml each time. I also had to start her on a special prescription diet food for failing kidneys. She also received the antibiotic Clavamox twice a day. My other dog, Maggie, a one year old sheltie/terrier mix was luckier than Molly. Although she did drink the same amount of water as Molly, she did not eat as much of the tainted food. She checked out okay, but will have to be tested again when I take Molly back. The total amount for these services has been 459.00. Molly should have been re-checked by her Vet, Dr. Brandy Ellis on April 2, 2007, but I will not be able to take her until Thursday, April 5, 2007 because I don't get paid until then and I can't afford it until then. I have missed work to take care of my dogs. I have taken 8 Vacation days and I sold 10 vacation days to have the money to pay for Vet care. I have suffered emotional and physical stress due to this, not to mention what my dogs have suffered. I still don't know if Molly will recover. I feel Menu Foods should pay my Vet bills, my lost time from work and the sale of my Vacation Days to cover the cost for care.
