Amanda of Suamico , WI June 19, 2009 After reading these articles on how people's dogs were dying from kidney failur and all sorts of other things, it comes to the conclusion as to this is how my sweet puppy zeus got really sick. About a month ago, We decided to switch zeus over to pedigree and then on june 12th we noticed he became very sick. He could barley breath, walk, or wouldn't eat anything. So, by monday we took him to the vet and they did a bunch of tests on zeus to see what was wrong, they concluded he had some sort of kidney failur. We were all so heart broken. how could zeus go from being a perfectly healthy dog who was full of enengry, to being very sick. My reasoning is this food! I was determinded to find out how my little puppy zeus who was six years old died. After my mom had read these articles as well, she knew this was exactly why. If we would have known this sooner, zeus to this day would still be with us. He was such a wonderful puppy who will be missed. I hope all of you who read this are touched in some way and don't have to go threw what we did. Jeane of Rockport, TX June 17, 2009 In February 2009, we switched our dogs from Nutro dry dog food to Pedigree dry. It was less expensive & my husband was swayed by Pedigree's 'warm & fuzzy' TV ads. Within 48 hrs, all five of dogs developed severe diarrhea. After two more days of trying to feed them Pedigree, four of my five dogs went on a hunger strike & refused to eat!! After three days of not eating anything, I got concerned about their health and switched back to our regular Nutro Chicken & Oatmeal dry food. The hunger strike ended that day. We purchased the Pedigree dry dog food at Sam's Club (thinking it was a bargain). We will not make that mistake again. We once again buy all our Nutro dry dog food from the local feed store. We have had no problems or illnesses with our dogs since we took them OFF the Pedigree. Darlene of Hiram, GA June 11, 2009 I received an email this morning from my sister regarding Pedigree dog food. That Email linked me to this consumer affairs site and I am horrified at what I have found! On May 4th, 2009 my 1 1/2 years old Siberian Husky Juno was diagnosed with kidney failure. She was young, sweet and full of life. She was absolutely fine one day and two days latter I was being told I had to put her to sleep. Since this came as a huge surprise (and I love my dogs as if they were my kids), I have been completely devastated by the whole experience. She was so very young, I just couldn’t believe it….still can’t! My vet couldn’t give me any indication as to why this had happened. He said possibly genetics, bad breading….he was grasping at straws. After reading the posts on this site, I wanted to throw up! I have been feeding my dogs Pedigree dog food for years. I notice that the first complaint on this site was March 2nd, 2008. Am I to believe that dogs have been dieing from this food for over a year and there has been no major coverage of this story in the news media? I am appalled at the fact that this has been going on; I should have known about it, and maybe I would still have my sweet Juno here with me today. Shame on you Pedigree! You make yourselves out to be such a great company by donating a percentage of your profit to shelters. Your commercials use to make me cry and now they just make me sick. Maybe you should take the money you’re donating to charity and put it towards making a better, safer product. If there is to be a class action suit toward this company then I am in. I am so sick of large organizations screwing the consumer. They manufacture unsafe products and take no responsibility for the damage that it causes. My Juno had her whole life ahead of her and you robbed us both. I hope you go bankrupt with all the rest of the corrupted corporations that are folding today. Dave of Christchurch, United Kingdom April 25, 2009 We had a lot of trouble with bladder stones with our Hannah (a Cairn terrier), including an instances of acute retention which could have killed her, but a change of diet from Pedigee dry foods to a bland and natural one seem to solve the problem on a life long basis. Most vets seem to favour a change of diet. Sylvia of Middletown, NY April 24, 2009 Doggy Bag Dog food - Nothing visible with dry kibble. But when saturated with hot broth and kibble softens, green particle is visible. It appears only in scattered pieces, not every one. Samples were sent to MARS and when I inquired, I was told they didn't get enough samples (they wanted two cups, but there weren't that many samples available). They didn't want to put their findings in writing - wanted to discuss it with me on the phone. I wanted it in writing and she refused. Three dogs died suddenly. I did not do autopsies, so I am unable to prove the cause of death. But they were dogs in good shape, different ages. Bonnie of W. Palm Beach, FL March 19, 2009 Bonnie of W. Palm Beach FL (03/19/09) Debra of Savannah, GA February 23, 2009 Debra of Savannah GA (02/23/09) Then we noticed our Pedro which we had for 10 years started acting funny. We thought he was just depressed since Moca did not come back home. I was going to take Pedro in on Monday morning to the vet but he died sometime early Monday morning Nov.3, 2009. We had Mars send us some envelopes to mail back two of the cans of food we had used. I have called them on several occasions and they said they were still anaylizing the food. I did call the Walmart where I bought the food and they removed any remaining containers from their shelves. I am still waiting on a response from Mars Petcare who makes the dog food to give us an answer to the know if we had poisoned our dogs we loved so much. I still get upset over thinking about the loss of my babies. I just want some closure to know if the dog food had something to do with the deaths.
