Christina of Macon, GA July 10, 2009

On Sunday July 12, 2009, I took my 5 year old English Setter to his grooming appointment at 12pm. They said he would be finished at 4pm. I arrived back at 4 and was told it would take another 30 minutes, so I left and had to go back. I waited for a little while for someone to come out and help me and I witnessed a groomer pretty much abusing a dog. She was trying to cut his nails and he was pulling away (as expected) and at one point he fell off the table and she yanked him back up by his throat and continued to pull and yank on his paws brutally. When Willis, my dog, was returned to me, I noticed he had a horribly uneven cut, and that there were some really long hairs that the groomer missed. Instead of complaining, I just paid and decided I would try to fix his fur when I got home.

Well, when I got home he ran to his water dish like he didn't have a drink for 4 hours. Then, I grabbed a pair of scissors and started to clip the random hair the groomer missed and I saw a bunch of fleas on his bottom! My dog did not have fleas when I dropped him off! In fact, he has never had fleas! I knew he caught them at Petsmart. When I contacted the store, and finally got in touch with the manager the next day, they offered me a free flea bath after I already went to a different store as soon as I saw the fleas and treated him with 30 dollars worth of over-the-counter remedies. What is a free flea bath going to do? Make it so that he has to sit in a cage for 6 hours while he dries and doesn't eat or drink anything? Then, he might catch some other insect infestation or disease from the unsanitary facility? No thanks. They also missed some of his nails. Some of them weren't even filed down. I will never have my dog groomed at PetSmart or purchase any of their products again.

Laura of Riverside, CA July 9, 2009

I boarded my dog here and asked when I dropped him off that he be ready once I return. I would like him to get a bath before coming home. I told them I would call them from the airport and to start the bath at that time. They agreed. I called to check up on him 7 days later and found out they lost his food bag. No one called to notify me of this. I was told at the 11th hour and they had to feed him a food he is not normally fed (something which vets dont recommend).

I was upset that had I not called, would anyone call me? Then they told me the bone I purchased him that was still in its packaging was never given to him the entire stay. The person on the phone was unhelpful and said they had "highschoolers working there" as if thats supposed to make me feel good about leaving my dog in their care. Then the next day, I called from the airport and they said the dog would be ready in 20 minutes. I got there 30 minutes later to allow for more time and they said the dogs bath was never even started and to come back in 30 more minutes. They had me waste a trip out there for nothing.

So I drove away and they call when I'm almost home (6 minutes later) saying the dog is now ready. How could they give him a bath and dry him in 6 minutes?I asked for some compensation, but the store manager said all I get was a free bath. I dont feel thats sufficient.I have called the corporate offices many, many times to not receive a phone call back. The manager told me over the phone, no one would reply

DANNY of BOULDER, CO June 26, 2009

I been taking my dog for day camp once or twice a week at the Petsmart hotel for a very long time but over the year my dog has been injured 3 times. The first time after I picked him up I notice that he was limping on his front leg and I asked the manager how that happened but he could not answer me (since they don’t make reports or anything up this location).

Second time his nail was bleeding because it was broke down and the guardians said that my dog plays rough because they could not come up with anything else but I told the manager that they need to watch the dogs on play time since that’s what am paying for to watch over my dog.

The last time it happened about 3 weeks ago when I went to picked him up and his nose was bleeding and he got a scar on the right side of his nose. Nobody could tell me how my dog was injured like that because they don’t watch the dogs at all. Unfortunaly I can’t find a place that would open that late but I don’t need to put out with this because I am paying them to watch over my dog but obviously is not happening

Denise of Warwick, RI June 14, 2009

June 13 at 10am I brought my 4 year old healthy shih tzu for grooming. At 10:30am Petsmart groomer called me to say while cutting her nails they noticed a "broken blood vessel" in her eye. I went to get her and her eye was bulging and totally red top and bottom. The manager was unsympathetic, said excitable dogs may get a "dedicated" service that costs more. I would never return there. He said they would not reimburse my veternarian bill unless the vet provided proof it was Petsmarts' fault. My vet referred me to an emergency hospital so that her eye pressure could be measured and other tests conducted. They prescribed an ointment and did say it was probably caused by strangulation but I do not have that in writing so i had to pay 150. I've read many other accidents/deaths after this incident and some were due to "cutting nails".

Siobhan of East Rockaway, NY June 8, 2009

I purchased a pet vest on June 7, 2009 at 11:29 am. I tried it on our bunny on June 8, 2009, in the morning. I went to return it and the manager refused to take it back trying to say it was unsellable when I had the packaging it came in. He was nasty and abusive and claimed it was against the Department of Health to take it back. No one told me that when we purchased it that if we tried it on our pet, we could not return it because of some Department of Health code. They have dogs that walk around with fur shedding everywhere!

The man was nasty and abusive and I asked for the number to headquarters and called while on the premises to which he ordered me to get out of his store. Headquarters asked to speak with him to which he lied claiming i used profanity more than once and that there was hair on the item. This was completely a lie. I did say the word that's "bull--" once because I thought he was just being mean to my 10 year old who i had sent in to get back his money. We have spent over 500 in their store. They took back a water bottle previously that had no packaging when we returned it. I think it is a complete sham. It says you have 60 days to return it. I have the packaging that only needs to be re-stapled down the side.

Kathryn of Glendale, AZ May 19, 2009

A week and a half ago I bought 40 feeder fish from Petsmart. I added them like I always do, and thought nothing of it. My fish (4 kissing fish, and 2 cichlids) never touched the fish, but they started dying off at an alarming rate. I thought that maybe they were just older when I bought them, until my fish started acting really strange. I woke up this morning to all 4 of my kissing fish dead and one of my cichlids, the other is struggling to live now.

I'm not sure what happened, and I have no proof, but I believe that Petsmart has contaminated products. This isn't the first time I've had issues with their products. I bought plants for my turtle tank a while back and now my filter is infested with snails that wont go away. I believe by tomorrow morning the last of my fish will have died, thanks to their disqusting products they sell to trusting people. I will NEVER purchase another thing from Petsmart, no matter how much more I have to pay else where. A tank full of dead fish (about 60 worth) and a filter infested with snails (150 filter).

SI of Philadelphia, PA May 18, 2009

I was at this Petsmart today and I was trying to get some fishes and they rufuse to sell me any fish for no reason. I mean I know their 18 year old policy and I am over 18 years old, but still they won't sell me any fish and they also said that I had multiple returns so they were being extremely mean. I think it's not our fault that if the fish dies within 2 weeks because they do have a 2 week guarentee plan so what is the matter with them.

If they have a 2 week guarentee on their fishes or pets, then we as customer should use it and if they don't like it then they shouldn't have this policy. Personally I think the employee there have some kind of hatred toward us. Not only that but the way she acted toward us was really rude. She even said that even if we bring our parents in, she still wouldn't sell us any fish and I think she should get fired.

Jane of Fort Wayne , IN April 27, 2009

I mentioned to a cashier that I wanted to speak with the manager. Once i waited for ten minutes, I was finally able to speak with such manager. I bring my pets to their grooming services and had told him that his employees should be drug tested. I could have sworn that I saw a couple of groomers in their car smoking only what seemed to be weed. It is not the only time I have gotten the feeling that they were on something.

I just stopped taking my pups in to be groomed their. I still buy food and other supplies but others pets are in possibly jeopardy of neglect or harm if these girls are really getting high while on the job. I mentioned this all to the manager, my concerns... i know he said he would take care of it but I do not beleive anything will be done.
