Sentry Pet Products |

Sheryl of Kenosha, WI August 14, 2009 I bought the Sentry Natural Defense Spot-Ons for my dogs and cat--- because the product was "all natural", I thought it would be a better choice for them than the usual pesticide(s) treatment. I applied the spot-on to my dogs in my grooming shop. Within minutes, a small dog that was in a kennel waiting for it's owner to pick up couldn't breathe and was struggling for each breath and had to be taken outside. My pit mix was crying and rolling on the ground trying to get the stuff off. She ended up with hiccups all night & morning (12 hours worth), had a eye discharge and was just laying around moaning/groaning as if she had a bad headache. My yellow lab seemed oblivious to the smell but started losing her hair (bald patches/skin burn) where the spot on had been applied. Both dogs got multiple baths, the spot-on was never put on my cat---I threw the stuff away. I had a 3 day migraine myself from the product. I will NEVER understand why this product (along with many other pet products) are on the market. This is one I will NEVER buy again (nor any other of Sentry's so called "natural" products.) I do tell everyone I know what this did to my pets. I wish I had seen all these complaints before I had bought this stuff and put my pets & myself through such misery! Leigh of Vienna, VA August 13, 2009 I just got back from the vet because of my 1yr old Husky had an awful reaction to this stuff. I applied it over the weekend and about 2 days later i noticed some clumping on her fur, and she was continuously scratching, at the time I did not think anything about it. a few more days went by and I started to notice that she was becoming bald in the spot that I had applied it to. It also smelled really bad. I kept washing it to try and make it clean, as much as the poor little girl would let me. She was obviously in pain. Today I took her to see the vet and they shaved the surrounding area, and gave me a stack of meds to help her. But all that i can say is NEVER GIVE THIS TO YOUR PET! I should have gone with frontline like I usually do. whatever is in this stuff is just evil and should be removed from shelves. Beatrice of Litha, FL August 6, 2009 the product I bought is SentryPro XFC.
Flea and Tick killer. I put this product on my sons pit bull in July. He became violently ill. Throwing up everywhere, and acting in general as if he were the most miserable creature alive. He is ALWAYS the most lovable animal, he was just absolutely miserable and eating grass as if he had not eaten in a month. We had also given him a bone I had bought at the same time and thought that maybe that was what had made him sick. I stayed up with him and "babied" him until finally he was able to settle down and eat real food. I cooked him bland rice and force fed him.
L. of Wilmington, MA August 4, 2009 After running out of Frontline I went to the grand opening of the new PetSmart in Woburn, MA to purchase some more. I did not realize they don't sell it. I was told that Sentry Pro XFC is just "as good" and I should follow the directions and use it. I brought it home, followed the directions and about an hour later my dog was vomiting, shaking, panting, crying and scratching excessively. After staying up all night with her, bathing her continuously throught the night and the next day. She seems to be better but still not acting like herself and she now has a large burn-like area on her back shoulder. Why in the world isn't this product pulled off the shelves. AFter reading post after post I cannot believe this is still being sold! I would get that time back and the guilt I feel for doing this to my 10yr old Bichon is unforgetable! I will tell EVERYONE I KNOW not to buy this product. Sara of Baltimore, MD August 4, 2009 After giving my dog Sentry Pro flea medicine, she started itching and moving around continuously, heavy panting, growling and snapping, and whining. She has been to the Pet ER twice in one night. This second time she went the vet had to hospitalize her. I am posting this as a warning that Sentry Pro can do damage to your dog just like Sergent Flea and Tick dip. Launa of kirby, AR July 27, 2009 i put sentry pro on my dog's neck for flea and tick control and it made my dog sick!!!! he's shaking his head constantly and has scratched a bloody spot where this poison was applied! he can't get settled, very fretful, can't sleep! this stuff is crap and i'll never use it again! Karen of Manteca, CA July 21, 2009 We used the Sentry XFC Pro on our dog exactly as indicated on the box. Within 3 hours, our dog was coughing. We let her out of her crate and gave her some fresh air which seemed to help, but then within a few hours after that, she started to foam and drool excessively at the mouth. We gave her a bath at 4:30, and by this time, our dog, who normally sleeps at least 10 hours at night was still restless and awake for the entire night. After we gave her a bath and some food, she stopped drooling and seemed to be better. We also called Sentry and filed a complaint. Jeffrey of Bloomington, IL July 19, 2009 This e-mail is to warn pet owners that they should not buy flea treatments from pet stores. Believe me, it may cost a little more at the vet, but you can save yourself money and your pet's life in the long run. We purchased flea protection from Petco for our pets, under the Sentry brand (apparently made by Sargeants.) 24 hours later we had a cat at the emergency vet clinic having seizures. Right after our cat, a pug was brought in for the same thing. Thankfully, the cat is only suffering mild tremors as she recovers. Hopefully, the dog did as well as she did. Apparently the active ingredients in some of these medicines can cause seizures in small animals. If you have treated your animals with one of these store brands, wash your pet with regular green Dawn dishwashing liquid and rinse with large amounts of water. Cats may not be easy, but you could save their life! suzette of merriam, KS July 16, 2009 After using this product on my cat, she became extremely ill in less than an hour - she was trembling, hissing, growling, scratching at the area I put the product, and her eyes were dilated and she appeared to hurt all over because she would not let me touch her. I rushed her to the vet after a phone call to the after hours clinic and she was treated with steroids, benadryl and bathed and she is home now where i am to watch her closely. She is very ill. I cannot believe I did this to my own cat with a product that was recommended by an employee at Pet Smart. I totally trusted that something on the market should be safe for my cat. I will be horrified if my baby does not recover from this. After reading all the comments on this site about this product it is hard for me to believe this product is still for sale... isn't there anything we can do? joan of lancaster, PA July 2, 2009 We applied the flea oil to our 1 year old kitty at the beginning of June) and she freaked out!! Running around in circles and panting. She calmed down, but the next day started scratching and licking the area. She lost her fur in about a 1" wide by 2" long section,. The vet said she had an allergic reaction and he gave her an anti inflammatory shot and topical powder to ease the pain. The pet store refunded my money. I filed a complaint with Sargeant's for our vet bill and am still waiting to hear from them. Report Your Experience
