Kathie of Palo Cedro, CA June 29, 2009 I purchased Sentry XFC flea liquid product at PetsMart in Redding, California. I applied to my four dogs. My smallest dog, a pug, has had a severe skin reaction to it. It looks like her skin has been burned off at the application site. My son is taking her to the vet right now. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. IT IS TOXIC. Richard of Elgin, SC June 21, 2009 We bought this poison at PETSMART thinking "of course, they sell it at PETSMART it's safe." I put it on our Shizu Lhasa Apso mixes around 9 and by 9:30 I was washing it off of both dogs. They were whining, scratching and looked miserable. Finally after washing them twice with dog shampoo and once with dawn, we ended up taking them to the vet at 12 a.m. One of our dogs was watering at the mouth so much so that he left a trail everywhere he went. 110 and 2 hours later it looks like they'll be ok, but this product is terrible. Even our vet thought the product had already been pulled. There really should be a laswuit against PETSMART and SENTRY PRO XFC. Hell, I may sue them myself. Erica of Clifton, NJ June 18, 2009 Sentry Natural Defense Flea & Tick Squeeze-On for Cats & Kittens. After trying to find a natural remedy against fleas, ticks, and mosquitos before a vacation. I applied the Natural Defense for Cats and Kittens. About a day after I applied it to my one cat, (applied to 2 cats) I noticed that one of them started to have a severe allergic reaction. I'm not sure if the loss of fur is from scratching the area behind his neck or if it is a burn from the "all natural" ingredients. I've tried to contact someone at the number provided in the insert and was far from sucessful. I feel so helpless in trying to help my baby boy. After doing further research I've found that this company seems to have had a numerous amount of complaints on their products. If something that is supposed to be "all natural" so destructive, I can just imagine what their other products do. My next step if I can't sooth his skin condition is to contact a vet. Are they going to pay for that? My guess is no.. I would strongly suggest people just spend the extra money and continue their flea/tick treatment w/ either Frontline or Advantix. No animal should have to go thru this. Michaelynn of Wyoming , MN June 9, 2009 I recently purchased Sentry Natural Flea & Tick Squeeze-On for Cats & Kittens for my cat. I applied the product as directed on the package. Almost immediately after I applied the product I noticed my cat was trying to scratch the application area. The next day I noticed that she was loosing clumps of fur at the application site and her skin was irritated and very scaly. I'm assuming she had an allergic reaction to the product. I brought the remainder of the package back to Petsmart and was able to get my money back. How can something that's supposed to be "natural" cause such a terrible reaction?! I emailed Sentry but don't expect to even get a response back. Do NOT buy this product! Colleen of Delmar, DE June 3, 2009 I recently purchased Sentry Pro XFC for my beloved Beagle. At first - the first couple of hours - there was not an issue, but then she started indicated she was thirsty - opening mouth, and sticking her tongue out. She thens started to go through panic mode from the bed to the floor and roll on her back. It was clear she was in discomfort. I decided to give her a bath and this eased some of these symptoms. She had a seizure 4 hours later !!!! She is still showing signs of cotton mouth (best way to describe it) but is eating and drinking. We are watching her and I plan to to to Pet Smart to ask them why exactly they sell a product that has so many ill effects. Frontline will be the only product I purchase in the future and there should be a recall of all Sentry products...and I believe the Pet Smart should have more responsibility with the lines they carry. You might expect this from a grocer, but not a company that specializes in pet care. I only hope my baby continues to get well. Karri of San Antonio, TX May 29, 2009 I purchased Sentry Pro XFC to use on our 3 dogs. We have 2 mini dachsunds and a chihuahua. I had to leave town with two of our children leaving my husband and oldest daughter to apply the spot-on treatment. I immediately got a call from my husband that something was wrong with the all three dogs. They started reacting within an hour of the treatment. They all were shaking like they were wet. This was uncontrollable. They vomited. They were in pain. They stopped drinking and eating. I arrived back home a day later to some very sick dogs. I had to force them to drink and eat. The chihuahua lost a lot of weight. The smallest dachsund chewed at her back legs and would kick out suddenly for no reason. They would shake themselves so bad that they ran into walls and furniture or lost their footing. At one point we thought the chihuahua had balance problems. Its been about 8 days since they were poisoned by Sentry Pro XFC. Most of the symptoms have slowly subsided. They still shake here and there but they are now eating and drinking and more like the dogs we know and love. As a pet owner I am horrified that this product is on the market. It was properly applied and in the right weight range. I feel badly these furry friends can't speak up and tell Hartz that this product is hurting them. I will never use another Hartz product. Cathy of Central Point, OR May 27, 2009 I applied Sentry Pro XFC to my three dogs. ALL three had a severe reaction to the product and in fact, am headed to the vet with one of them who, four days after application ( and two baths later) is still miserable and scratching at the application site. THIS PRODUCT NEDDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE SHELVES AND SENTRY PET PRODUCTS HELD LIABLE FOR DAMAGES DONE!!! Janis of Strathmore, CA May 20, 2009 I just don't understand how Sentry Pro XFC are still on the market and that people like myself who was not aware of the danger of using this product that almost killed my 2 little boys. I was so upset and stressed out after watching my dogs enduring so much pain all I could do was cry right along with them. There should be a law against selling any products that are killing our animals but instead company's are getting rich. They should be held accountable, it's not just our animal's that suffer cause I was suffering to, we should be able to sue them for putting our animal's and the owners life at risk. I'm still very upset over this. PLEASE HELP OUR ANIMAL'S AND PROTECT THEM FROM HARM! Anna of West Fargo, ND May 18, 2009 On Thursday May 14th, 2009 at 9pm I applied Sentry XFC Pro to my 8 month old 18 pound Mini Schnauzer Athena. About an hour or so after that she was scratching extremely badly on her sides and acting like she was getting bit constantly. I went online really quick to research the flea/tick medicine and seen all the side effects and issues that other dog owners have reported with this. I quickly went and gave her a bath to get as much product off her skin as possible. By 7 the next morning I had to call and get her into a vet as she had scratched her entire right shoulder raw and she wouldn’t stop. I got her into the vet and they ended up giving her a shot of steroids and a shot of antihistamine for the allergic reaction. They then gave me a prescription for Steroids and a prescription for the medicine Otomax that I was to put on her open wounds to make sure it wouldn’t get infected. I was also told to giver her Benadryl for three days and to wash her for a few days with regular dawn dishwashing soap. So after all was said and done I paid around 180.84, this includes the Sentry XFC Pro Flea/Tick Medicine, the Vet Bill, and the purchase of the Dawn soap and Benadryl. This company needs to pull all products off their shelves until they can ensure that the two active ingredients are changed to something more safe for pet use. Also there was no warning on the box or the insert about side effects or anything. Danielle of Poughkeepsie, NY May 13, 2009 I am absolutely horrified after reading the thousands of complaints against this product. My family had bought Sentry Pro XFC from PetCo to hopefully repel ticks. After applying not even 1/2 the recommended dosage for his weight, he became restless, crying and panting uncontrollably. He would try to sit then move, and this hasn't stopped since the application (over 24hrs). I checked online and much to my dismay found out that all of the search hits for this product have the same horrifying results. After taking the dog to the vet and getting several medications his uncontrollable panting and pacing back and forth has yet to cease. To the touch of his back, where the ointment was applied, he is burning hot. I have bathed him several times using dishwashing soap, which was recommended, as well as applying cold towels to his back. I am just utterly disgusted with this product and think that no company should be allowed to humanly dispense a product that so many people have problems with. This treatment should be outlawed since its effects are brutal and torturous to its users. Report Your Experience
