LOS ANGELES, July 10, 2009 – Veteran Associated Press newsman James Limbach joins ConsumerAffairs.com as its chief Washington, D.C., correspondent July 20, the consumer news site announced. “As traditional news outlets cut back their coverage of federal agencies and Congress, it's incumbent on online sites to pick up the ball,” said James R. Hood, ConsumerAffairs.com's president and editor in chief. A native of Morris, Ill, Limbach has been a reporter and editor in AP's Washington broadcast news center for more than 33 years. He has covered Space Shuttle launches, Presidential elections and inaugurations, business and consumer news and medical stories. Limbach attended Illinois State University and did a stint with Armed Forces Radio and Television Service in Seoul, South Korea. Before joining AP, he was news director of WAVA-AM-FM when it was one of three all-news radio stations in the highly competitive Washington, D.C. market. Based in Los Angeles, ConsumerAffairs.com was founded in 1998 to provide aggressive news coverage of issues affecting consumers and to publish consumers' comments and criticisms about products and services. The ad-supported site has grown to nearly 200,000 pages and last month provided 2.7 million page-views to its readers. The site is free to consumers and does not charge a subscription fee or require any kind of membership or registration. |
