Library of Congress Catalogs Katrina Coverage

The United States Library of Congress has selected ConsumerAffairs.com for inclusion in its historic collection of Internet materials related to Hurricane Katrina. The consumer Web site provided extensive coverage of the storm's effect on the nation's economy and the difficulties storm victims faced with regard to insurance and rebuilding.

The Library of Congress preserves the nation's cultural artifacts and provides enduring access to them. The Library's traditional functions, acquiring, cataloging, preserving and serving collection materials of historical importance to the Congress and the American people to foster education and scholarship, extend to digital materials, including Web sites.

After the Library collects, processes, and catalogs the ConsumerAffairs.com collection, it will make the Web archive available to researchers onsite at Library facilities. The Library will also make the collection available to offsite researchers by hosting the collection on the Library's public access Web site.

ConsumerAffairs.com is a consumer news and information site covering automotive, financial, health, homeowners, travel and general consumer news as well as safety recall notices.
