Anne of Washington, DC September 1, 2006

Anne of Washington DC (09/01/06)
Experian is reporting an address where I have never resided as my current address..I have refuted the info several times, but Experian refuses to change it. I have lived continuously at my Washington DC address for more than 16 years. The disputed address is in a different state and more than 200 miles from where I reside. It is not a residential address.

Experian has placed an alert on my credit report because Experian states that the Norfolk, Va. address has been connected to someone else's past fraud reporting (it is a mail receiving facility). This has nothing to do with me.

My problem is the same as most others. It was not clear to me that I was signing up for a paid service. The problem is that this company makes every effort to conceal the fact that you are signing up for a paid service. The typical person usually reaches for their revolver when someone asks for their credit card number. But in this situation, the consumer gives the credit card number under the pretense that the number is needed for credit tracking purposes and not for payment. Freecreditreport has a responsibility to their consumer to make this much more evident than it already is.

Of 32 items listed on my credit report compiled by Experian, only 7 were mine. The remaining 25 items belonged to a man with a different first name, different middle name, different last name, different date of birth, and,(needless to say), different social security number. Apparently this man had previously rented the apartment in which I now live. Other than that purely accidental fact, I had no connection with the man whatsoever. Is it legal for a credit reporting agency such as Experian to enter obviously innacurate information into someone's file?

I was denied credit based upon innacurate information in Experian's credit report.

I purchased a free online credit report from Experian and attempted to contact them to dispute a claim on the report. However, they only provide you with automated phone numbers that do not help and their website claims you can obtain a phone number if you order ANOTHER report. The website then failed repeatedly to process my request for another report which I don't even need.

This could result in further damaging my credit as I am unable to remove an inaccurate claim on my credit report.

My son and I each sent for our annual free credit report.at an address we formerly used for Experian. Our mail was returned return to sender, attempted-not known-unabl to forward I cannot find any mailing address for them.

My son was a fraud victim in the past and want to keep watch on his credit report at all 3 agencies. Maybe no damage, but how can we find out?
