Equifax in Trouble Again

Alex of Dunellen, NJ January 14, 2009

Alex of Dunellen NJ (01/14/09)
Some time in February 2008 I signed up with an on line company (24protectplus123) in order to access my credit report. After that I received a number of calls from collection agencies. Also I noticed a lot of tampering with my credit report which keept my credit score low. My information was probably shared because my creditors knew that I was trying to refinance and they heldout for more money.

The consequence was that I was not able to obtain credit or had to settle for a higher interest rate.

Giuseppe of Little Falls NJ (11/18/08)
I received a copy of my credit report to find the following items to be incorrect. I have requested supporting documentation from the company with NO response. By the provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1970, 15 U.S.C. 168l et seq., I demand that these items be reinvestigated and deleted from my credit record.

HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING A LOAN

Donna of San Antonio, TX November 6, 2008

Donna of San Antonio TX (11/06/08)
TransUnion prints entire credit account numbers on their Credit Report. Along with birthdate and social security information the potential for identity theft is increased. To make matters worse the address they have listed is wrong which makes me think if this report gets sent to the wrong address. I have attempted to correct my address several times now but after a brief correction wrong information seems to resurface. Corrections don't seem to be permanent.

TransUnion also claims they do not have the ability to scramble or truncate the account numbers, yet Experian and Equifax do. They claim it is the responsibility of the credit card companies to restrict this information. When I contact the credit card companies they of course refer me back to TransUnion. This has become quite a goat rope. The only thing I have been able to do is to freeze my credit.

Because TransUnion will not safeguard my information, I must basically keep what amounts to a permanent freeze on my credit

Attila of Debrecen, OTHER November 5, 2008

Attila of Debrecen OTHER (11/05/08)
I had been a victim of ID theft. It has been officially verified, because I was not residing in the USA during the period Trans Union reports has been showing me as a person neglecting credit card payments. I had contacted the companies and they adjusted their records. Also, I have mailed the corrected report of Equifax, neverthless Trans Union simply neglected and shows me as a person in debt.

My employment application was rejected by several Investment Banks due to Trans Union Credit report. Also, the US State Department could not get me security clearence due to this matter. Thank you for your help.
