Elizabeth of East Northport NY (12/4/01):
My husband and I purchased a TV at PC Richard. The salesman sold us their warranty. We thought it would be a good purchase. The salesman, John, said this warranty would cover all repairs and if repairs could not be made we would get a new free TV. However, this is all false. We had a problem from the beginning -- a faint yellow spot appeared in the corner. We dealt with it for a year until someone reminded us about our warranty. So we called the service department and made an appoinment. Well the TV was in and out of the shop for about 2 months with the same problem existing and being brought back with other problems.

I finally got fed up with the runaround and rude service people comming to my home and on the phone. I dealt with the service managers and the store managers. Finally they came to a conclusion to give me store credit. Not a new TV but store credit. We purchased this TV on sale and discounted. We were never going to find a great deal like that again.

The store wouldn't do anything else. So to stop the aggravation we took the store credit and paid another $200 and change for the exact same TV. Plus lost out on the money we spent for the warranty.

The repairs they made that had nothing to do with the original problem was putting a new picture tube at a cost of $999. When I told them that they were spending so much money in placing the wrong parts they told me "it doesn't cost us anything, Sony pays for it." So why am I paying PC Richards for a warranty when Sony is paying for it? PC Richard is still calling to sell us their warranty for the new TV and saying if we can't fix it we'll give you a free TV.

Angel of Bronx NY (4/30/00):
I purchased a Hitachi 53-inch screen for $1999.99. Less than 90 days later the TV went down. With the purchase of the set I also purchased a extended warranty. It has now been over a month since they picked up the television to fix said problem. Everytime I call to ask what the status of the repair I get that they're working on it. No one at PC Richard will assist me in any way.

We pay our cable bill but dont have our TV to see the programs.

Myrna of Staten Island NY (6/16/01):
I bought a Whirlpool washer from them after being convinced by the salesperson that they back up their products. It was delivered, it doesn't work. I called the store, was put on hold for 30 min. Transferred several times. Given 5 different numbers to call. I called the manager (James). I was upset on the phone (but appropriate - no bad words). Finally I said "Whatever", he then stated "Well whatever to you too" and hung up on me.

I called back to get his name, he then patronized on the phone, calling me dear, sweety, as if I were some kind of an idiot. I became angry, and hung up. I spent a lot of money on the washer, it's not working, and I just wanted a human (not a recording) to speak to about the problem. Now I am stuck with broken washer, wet ruined clothes and angry because my problem was unaddressed, I spent a lot of money and I was treated like a child.
