Debra of Depoe Bay, OR October 15, 2009 I suffer with chronic illness. One of the health issues I have is Multiple Chemical Sesitivity. I heard about this product that claimed to clean all impurities from my home air quality. I purchased three ionic breeze air filters for my home. I have used them for about four plus years. I have come to realize after several years of use that the ionic breeze does not do what it claims. I didn't realize it at the time but around the same time I bought my ionic breeze filters I started having migrane headaches. My doctor attributed them to my health condition. First I noticed that the ionic breeze did not remove mold spores as stated and did not take unwanted smells from the air. I do not smoke but the folks that occupied my home before me did. I painted ceiling to floor because of the smell of smoke. Even after painting, I could still smell the smoke and the ionic breeze did nothing to omit the smell. If I cook fish, the ionic breeze doesn't omit that or any other smell for that matter. A friend told me of a Consumer Report that came out about the ionic breeze. After reading as much as I could find on the subject, I decided to shut down my filters. Within 48 hours, the first thing I noticed was my headaches were gone. My sense of smell hightened and I sense that the ionic breeze had something to do with my headaches and God only knows what else. I paid over three hundred dollars a pop for these things and it was a real burden on me financially as I am disabled but thought they would improve my health. I imagine I paid much more in the long run due to the constant electrical draw for the past several years from running these air filters 24/7 for over four years. I now worry that the ozone emitted from these filters may have caused me more health problems and potentially permenant damage. I am under the understanding that the ionic breeze emits too much ozone and can be potentially dangerous. When brought to Sharper Image's attention, they wanted folks to pay for some ozone guard. Are you kidding me??? How is it that companies are allowed to get away with this nonsense? The product should be halted until more testing is done by an independant source. If the product is in fact dangerous, we should be at least compinsated for the monies that we put into the purchase and use of said product. Collins of placentia, CA October 15, 2009 I bought two ionic breese quanza units I think it was in 1999 and stopped using them after finding out about the ozone complaints. I was unaware of the law suit until recently. I contacted them but was given the run around and told they had no way of searching for me in there data base. I suppose if I request a bank acct. search I may beable to find proof of purchase. I havent been able to find my receipt yet. Sharper image claims to no longer have data. I understand that they did refund money to some. But I was never made awair of this at the time. I also read that they now have an ozone guard for there units. They filed for bankrupsy in 2008 and the remaining stores and company assets were acquired by Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers Group. I would like to know if theres anything I can still do for my refund or to acquire protective ozone guards for my two units or am out just out of approx. 700.00? Lisa of Lilburn, GA October 4, 2009 This was a fantastic machine which I'm so disappointed is no longer available because of false reports brought against the product by Consumer Reports. Eileen of Sun Prairie, WI September 25, 2009 I have bought 2 Ionic Breeze GP air purifiers in the past 5 years. The red light (cleaning overdue) continues to flash despite doing the internal cleaning as recommended in the product manual. While this light is flashing, it does not operate. All I want is someone who can troubleshoot the problem and fix them, but it is impossible to reach anyone who will talk to you. This company owes it to all of us consumers who trusted in them, to at least help make these units operational again. Julianne of Rock Hill, SC September 1, 2009 I have just packed up my Ionic Breeze that has two years left on it's warranty and thought I should double check the internet to see if the return address for warranty service has changed. Now I find they are out of biz and I have this 200 paperweight? I bought this brand instead of a cheaper one in part because of the 5 year warranty that came with it. I'm not going to make up a crazy story like I've been reading here about illness or damage caused by the thing - I liked it and just want my warranty honored! penelope of orland, IL August 31, 2009 i purchased an ionic breeze with the extended warenty due to expire 2011. it was replaced two times due to malfunction. the last replacement in 2008. it has totally stopped working now and i can't locate anyone or any place to have it repaired or replaced. please help me. it was a very expensive investment. it cost about 600.00. SONYA of HUNTERSVILLE, NC August 30, 2009 My husband purchased 2 Sharper Image breeze air purifiers (GP Ionic Breeze and Professional Plus Quad) he did not purchase the extended warranty. However the unit stopped working before the 1 year warranty expired but due to Sharper Image filing bankrupcy we were unable to contact them to return the unit. What can we do to have the unit replaced or if possible return both units since we have not seen any type of improvements with allergies. What a disappointment and waste of 630.00 hard earned money. AZIZ of ONTARIO, CA August 29, 2009 i have two air cleaner with extended waranty on it ,one complitly not working i'don't whare to take it. simone of lewiston, ME August 26, 2009 when i called i was told that you no longer were in business and i was not going to get anything done for my ionic breeze from which i bought four of them .some 41/2 years ago for the sum of 700 plus .A nd now to be told i out of luck is not good from my stand point. i work with the public myself and there is alot of bad stuff going in and out of theis world of ours but this got me really mad. Maria of Virginia Beach, VA August 25, 2009 I purchased two Quadra machines back in May 2006. I have had to return them to the stores to get refurbished ones after they stated making a hissing sound. There was no trouble doing that but now they are making the same noise and I am told I have no recourse since I did not purchase the extended warranty. I am also being told that many people have suffered breathing problems. Then it hit me, back in November 2006, I developed what they call cardiomyopathy, an enlargement of the heart, caused by a virus. My doctors could not tell me just how I caught this virus but now it is all making sense. Since I do not have any family history for this condition, I can only assume that these machines caused this problem. If there is any attorney out there who would like to speak to me about this, I would be glad to speak to you as this condition has now caused me to take 4 different medications daily, and I have lost much of my stamina to do even the simpliest of things like walking.
