Judy of Overland Park, KS April 5, 2007

Judy of Overland Park KS (04/05/07)
my daughter in law registered for baby things at Target. Their computer was down so 3 people purchased same item. Target refused to take it back and it had only been 1 week. They are the worst worst worst -- have had other times with same results.

Rhonda of Duluth GA (03/19/07)
Tried to return a gift that was 54 and had gone on sale for 34. I had purchased it when exchanging a 15 Christmas gift that had no receipt. I had purchased a 54 item. I was returning the 54 item and purchasing the sale item along with additonal items. I saw that the item was on sale earlier in the day when I bought over 100 worth of merchandise. Went home and returned with my receipt (which is within the time allowed to return), the unopened item that was to be my grandsons b'day present (March 21) and thought I could get this done.

The manager said I had to exchange for something worth 54 and that it could be just one item since I had bought one item! I kept trying to prove my point, that I had returned the original item on about 15 and he kept saying this is our policy!

I have shopped at Target since they first opened in Duluth--perhaps 20 years ago. At first I shopped weekly. Once the new store opened it was not a close--but I still enjoyed shopping at Target. The gift cards going down to zero and the poor exchanging of wedding gifts all started my less frequent shopping. Now I will be looking for other places to find the items I purchase from Target. Target shopping use to be so much fun. And their return policies were MUCH more consumer friendly. I could hardly believe how tied to his policy the manager was. I did not see that policy written on the receipt anywhere. I terribly upset with the management. Target should at least give me one of their tackey gift cards that expire for the 29 difference and for all the time, trouble, and agrevation I went through. I just didn't know where to contact someone at Target. The managers was unbending and impersonal.

I received a portable DVD player. We tried to use it and the sound is so low you can't hear the movies. I didn't have the receipt but it was a gift and we just wanted one that worked. It had a shipping label on it with Targets name, so there was no doubt what store it came from.

Nikki of La Mesa, CA March 16, 2007

I purchased a cd and when I put it in my car stereo it began to play and then I realized that it was scratched very badly. I had the receipt and all I wanted to do was make an even exchange since I really wanted the cd. The girl at the return desk asked me for my son's employee number. I said I did not know it. She said that she needed his number in order to make the exchange. Otherwise I would have to pay the difference

I got his employee number.  I was told just having his employee number was not enough, she needed my son to be there. I said that I was told all I needed was his number.

Kathy of Seabrook, TX February 26, 2007

Kathy of Seabrook, TX (02/26/07)
Target doesn't care about it's customer!

I can't return a bath mat, to get another color because I didn't have a receipt. Imagine that, someone bought me a gift and I didn't ask for a receipt.

The problem is I returned 2 items in a year, January and March of 2006.  It is now February of 2007, so I must keep the wrong colored bath mat.

In a perfect world we would all have receipts for all of our purchases and gifts, this just isn't the real world. This company has forgoten why they are in business...the customer. Not that I think they care, but they lost my business.
