What is Target?

Target is a big-box retailer known for its affordability and wide selection of products. The store boasts everyday low prices, but it also offers weekly deals, clearance prices and other in-store markdowns. Customers who hold a RedCard credit or debit card can save an extra 5% on their purchases. RedCard holders also get exclusive offers and deals to save even more.

Target makes customer experience a top priority. Stores have spacious and uncluttered aisles for both customer comfort and ease of access. Employees frequently perform zone sweeps to ensure shelving is neat and properly stocked.

What does Target do?

Target offers customers a variety of mid- to high-quality products at affordable prices. Customers can find many reliable brands at Target, including Dyson, KitchenAid, Apple and many more trusted names. The company also has its own brands in nearly every category. These brands include Market Pantry, Archer Farms, Threshold, Boots & Barkley, Up & Up and Xhilaration.

With such a variety of brands, Target provides customers with options to fit almost any budget for nearly any purchase. Whether you’re decorating a dorm room, investing in long-term needs for your home, refreshing your wardrobe, prepping for a party or looking to fill your pantry, you can find most everything you need with one trip to Target.

Target prices

The amount of money you spend at Target will greatly depend on the type of purchase you’re making. The grab-and-go area of Bullseye’s Playground at store entrances presents you with neat finds for just a couple of dollars. You can find clothing staples for as little as $5, or build a full outfit for less than $100.

Target carries several brands, so there is something for every budget. For example, if Threshold home decor is out of your price range, Room Essentials might be a better fit. You can find various brands for everything from coffee makers to cookware, vacuums to televisions and more.

Target also regularly offers great deals on their flyer items, and customers can often find in-store markdowns. Regular Target shoppers may want to consider a RedCard to save an extra 5%.

I’m very irritated at Target.com and at a preferred shopper today. I got a delivery 2 days ago and gave the shopper a $6 tip (15%). Then target.com asked me how I liked the service and how much tip I’d like to give. So obviously the shipper didn’t report the tip. Target’s app isn’t reliable as far as tips are concerned, which is why I gave her the tip in person. Other shoppers report the tip, so I never had a problem before. Target.com kept asking how much tip I’d like to give. In the future I won’t give in-person tips, which might mean that the shopper won’t get any tip.

TARGET sold me a defective Microsoft 365 subscription code and then refused to issue a refund. I expected better customer service, especially after being given a product that did not work as promised. After contacting customer service support and trying to resolve it directly. I was still denied a refund, which is frustrating and unacceptable. I would advise other customers to double check these purchases and keep every receipt and message in case they need to dispute the charge. SHAME ON TARGET!!!

Staff refused to give any information regarding the store manager’s last name and refused to give district manager’s name because ‘they didn’t have to’. The store manager, Jim, refused to even deal with it. This is after I had to find someone to help me and tell them after they said the store didn’t have what I was looking for. I showed them that indeed they did have it. They decided to actually try to help and surprise surprise it was in the back. Not stocked on the shelf. After 45 min of trying to get the item, I told them I would just pay online and since I have it already found how can I go ahead and take that item as it would be cheaper the way I was trying to purchase it. They said I couldn’t just take it that they would have to assign it to a team to get and fulfill. It might take 2 hours. I said I have it right here, can I buy it and you just mark it that way? No, it’s 2 hours.

I have a video of the store manager just ignoring my questions. I’d be happy to put that out there wherever I can. Then the security guard said if I wasn’t buying anything to leave or they would call the cops because it would be considered loitering. I told them to go ahead but I would like a path of escalation. The security guard, Courtney, kept saying I didn’t need any of the information. She said she called the cops and how if the path of escalation I was provided didn’t work I could come back.

This has been one of the worst service experiences I have ever had with Target. I pay for their delivery membership, yet my orders have been canceled more than three times with no real explanation. You are paying for a service that simply does not work. I spent hours trying to get help, only to be disconnected multiple times. The representative (Rachelle) repeatedly ended calls and chats without resolving anything. There is no ownership, no accountability, and no respect for the customer.

The entire system feels broken — from ordering to delivery to customer support. You are left on your own after they take your money. If you depend on delivery, do not trust this service. It is unreliable, disorganized, and a complete waste of time. I stayed home waiting for orders that never came. This is not just poor service — it is a failure to deliver on what is being sold. Save your money and your time. There are far better companies that actually honor what they promise.

Target is not fair to all customers, they do not get enough items in stock so that proves they are not fair to all and when I mention this to them they do not care and ignore me and I'm tired of target getting rid of popular food items all the time too and the fact that they stopped price matching other companies and no longer give us customers the rewards, that's how they treat us customers who has spent thousands of dollars with their company, we do not mean anything to Target at all, we need a bigger and way better retail stores in our country all over and then to boycott target and Walmart because both companies has the same issues, what happened to good customer service, I'm very very disappointed with target and Walmart and Walgreens, 3 worst retail companies around by far!!!

I purchased a kitchen table and four chairs from Target, and unfortunately one of the chairs was faulty—the very last one I assembled, of course. I returned to the store expecting a simple exchange, but was told this wasn’t possible and that I had to file a complaint online instead. The process itself immediately raised concerns: I was asked to provide photos of the fault, the instruction leaflet, and the delivery order, all within a limit of just 2–3 images.

Since then, I’ve contacted customer service five times. I’ve been repeatedly told that the item was supplied by an outside dealer, while the dealer claims the instruction leaflet I received is not theirs. This makes no sense—the leaflet was included in the original packaging, and the photos clearly match the product I received.

Target appears to be distancing itself from responsibility, leaving me stuck between them and the third-party supplier with no resolution. What should have been a straightforward exchange for a faulty item has turned into a frustrating and time-consuming experience. Overall, this has been extremely disappointing customer service. I would strongly caution others before purchasing furniture through Target, especially when third-party sellers are involved, as resolving issues may prove far more difficult than expected.

I bought a mattress from Target for my daughter. There were NO holes in the mattress. She went to wash her sheets and then sat on the mattress waiting for her sheets. Her skin then became inflamed. She was in so much pain that she couldn't put her pants on. She took a shower, but still in pain and skin was red. The mattress leaked fiberglass and it got everywhere. Again, there were NO holes in the mattress. If you shine a flashlight on the mattress, you can see tiny particles, which is fiberglass. How insane for a store to sell such a mattress to consumers?? Very sick. I'm not giving them my money ever again.

My wife and I shop at Target every few months to stock up on health and beauty products, laundry products, paper goods, etc. Even though we live in Greenville, SC, we have liked the Target on Wade Hampton in Taylors and have been willing to drive the extra distance. Our experience today, however, has changed our minds.

We had over $300 of items in two carts and were ready to check out on a Thursday morning. Even though the store had around 10 check-out lanes, only the self-checkout lanes were open, and they were labelled 10 items or less. When we arrived, there was already a long line forming. We questioned a few employees as to why there wasn't at least one regular lane open, but they just smiled and said the self-checkout was open. My wife and I were tired and knew it would be difficult to go through the self-checkout with two carts full of supplies. The self-checkouts give space for bagging and placing only a few items at a time, and the machine disciplines you when you remove items before paying. How on earth would we be able to stack two full carts of items on that one little tray?

Finally, an employee told us to go to the Exchanges and Returns counter, where the employee there would help us. When we were finally waited on, the employee was surprised to find we were at her counter for a purchase. We told her another employee had told us to go to her. She tried to be cheerful, but seemed a bit hassled and was not compassionate to our dilemma. Whatever happened to customer service at Target? No employee had offered to open one of the regular lanes or get a manager. They just smiled and shrugged. Our opinion of Target has been shattered.

I visited the Target nearest me in Belton, Missouri to make an exchange. They did not have the proper item in stock. They did look on the computer and found it at the nearest store. I asked for a refund since I bought it there. The customer service person said that the other store would exchange it. I went to the other store in South Kansas City and they wouldn’t do it. I returned to the prior store and asked for a refund. They gave it to me in a gift card, which I used at the store in South KC. To buy the correct item. The person at customer service was so rude to me at the South KC store that I will not ever go to a Target store ever again. This lady gave me such problems and caused me time and gas that she made me not want to shop at Target!

If I have less than 10 items and want to use cash I am forced to wait on a line to have a cashier check me out. And there are never enough cashiers. So the line is usually long. Very inconvenient!

An order I made from a bridal registry, was charged to my cc and shipped from California. It was damaged in shipment and returned to shipper. The order was made on 1.20.2026 with no updates since 1.27.2026. After multiple (10+) attempts to resolve online with Chatbots and AI, I called the local Target store. No assistance. Finally got a phone number to corporate. The Target system does not track these situations so if I hadn't persisted, I would have paid for the order with nothing delivered. The rep could only refund my cc (after I asked) and I am back to reordering it on my own. No one knows how it will affect the bridal registry and if the bride will get 2 instead of 1 of these items.

My question is right to the point: Why are nurses excluded from getting discounts? Here’s a definition of Public Service: Public service is defined as any service, commodity, or action provided or facilitated by government—or authorized non-profits—to meet the essential needs of the community, often funded by taxes. It aims to support the public good, protect rights, and improve quality of life, ranging from infrastructure like roads to services like police and healthcare.

I received a message back basically saying, "Thank you for your comment, we’ll keep it under review however you could join the Target Circle Program for discounts." This is my message back: Thank you for your response. While teachers, students, Military and Government Assistance qualifies for a discount without paying $99.00 I think this list should also include nurses. I just purchased curtains yesterday for $265.00. And so you think I should spend $99 for the Target Circle program to get a discount of $ 16.00 or 26.00 dollars on the curtains. Really! I will be aware of this the next time I need to make a large purchase and look elsewhere.

2 months ago when I went to checkout, the cash register woman suggested to open a Target card and said I would receive a $50 bonus back. So figuring that was a good idea, I went ahead and applied for the credit card. No bonus appeared on the statement. I emailed customer service and explained my issue and the response I got back told me the purchase had to be over $50.00. So I went ahead and made another online purchase for about a little over the $50.00 and successfully used the $50.00. When the new items arrived, I then went into the local store and returned the first order I had placed. Now my new bill has arrived and the ** sales girl at the return desk - I realized credited me back off of the 2nd purchase I had ordered and only received the $9.23 credit. So basically, I never received the correct credit for the items I bought.

Bottom line is that I am now being forced to pay double for 2 items I bought. Target customer service totally stinks - not even in the United States and couldn't understand a anything they were saying on the phone with their accents. I am being forced to pay approximately $47.00 over what I calculated I actually owe. I will NEVER step into a Target store again for the rest of my life!!!! Bought an expensive appliance from this Target in Bellingham last week, and they did not offer (and I forgot to buy the extended warranty at the time of purchase). I looked on Target website and could not find the phone number for the insurance company (Allstate Insurance). Therefore, I called Target in Bellingham today trying to get the phone number. First, I called the Target appliance department. The phone rang and rang until it got disconnected. I called again, and same thing, rang until disconnected.

Second, I called Target back and select the customer service desk. It rang for a long time, and finally a lady picked up the phone. I explained that I would like to add extended warranty for my purchase since I bought it about 10 days ago. She at first said I can't do that, and I must return the item (since it is less than 30 days) and buy it again & add insurance. I then asked her for the phone number for Allstate insurance and I can call them directly. She told me to look it up on Target website. HOWEVER, before I was able to tell her that I did but no phone number listed, she said "have a good day" and then she left. She did not disconnect me because I could hear her and someone in the background talking and laughing. I kept saying "Hello! Hello!" but no answer. After a couple minutes of no response from her (background noise still going on), I had no choice but hung up.

Third: I called back right away to same department. Same thing, rang a long time before a lady picked up the phone. I think it is the same lady that had answered my call before. I explained my issue and asked her for her name. She then said "Hello, hello.... I think it is a bad connection......." and then same thing happened. No more response from her despite I can hear the background noise clearly.

Fourth: I called back again at same department. Again, rang awhile before a lady answered. Not sure if the same woman, but I right away asked to speak a manager. She put me on hold and got her manager Lindsay (so they claimed).

I explained to Lindsay my frustration, and the reason for my call. For the first time, at least Lindsay did not rush me off and did not put me in the "black hole" again.

      a) Lindsay did not apologize nor mention anything about her staff's handling of the my calls.

      b) Lindsay said her staff is correct that I must return the appliance, and purchase it again with insurance.

I said it does not make sense because :
      1) All I need is the phone number for Allstate insurance:
      2) it is a big inconvenience for me to pack everything in the box and bring it back to target to return

      3) If I return it, they will have an "open-box " item, and they (Target and the manufacturer) will lose money as they will have to resell it as an "opened item".

Lindsay said no, because I have to re-purchase the same unit!!! I said if I go thru all the hassles to return the unit, I WILL NOT RE-PURCHASE IT AND I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! She said it's my choice, but she will try to get me the phone number. After a very brief hold, she came back and said there is no phone at all on the insurance pamphlet, no phone number for sales, customer service nor claims. I advised I will escalate this experience to Target corp., as this is UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Went to Target in Amsterdam NY, first stopped at the in house Starbucks, where the girl behind the counter walked back and forth making drinks, it was a good 5 minutes before she even acknowledged my existence. Then proceeded to mess up the entire order. Next shopped in the store when we went to check out there was one person at a register and when we stood in line she proceeded to tell us she was not open and we would have to use self checkout! I have never received training on the register nor do I get paid to be a cashier! How hard is it to provide basic customer service?
