Post-Holiday Letdown

Michelle of Los Angeles, CA (1/15/06)
On December 24, 2005 I was waiting in line to purchase a gift certificate for my mom. When I finally got up to the counter the female employee ignored me as if I wasn't there. It wasn't like she didn't see me. She saw me as I approached her. I told her that I wanted a gift certificate and she just looked at me, turned and laughed to her friend.

Another sales clerk noticed me and asked if I needed help. When I told her that I wanted a gift certificate she alerted the first employee who, all of a sudden, said that her shift was over. Why couldn't she have told me that instead of letting me stand in line?

I don't know what their policies are, but Victoria's Secret needs to train their sales clerks on how to give better customer service to their patrons and stop acting so snotty!

Rhianna of Fargo, ND (1/8/06)
As I shopped at Victoria Secret I was continually followed by two or more employees, including the manager. They acted like I was stealing something. They didn't treat me like a paying customer, but like I was a thief.

I went back a second time, just to see if I was right and they still followed me. When I said something to the manger she got upset and started arguing with me. I told her that I thought she was being unfair and treating me differently. She said she was going to call security and have them escort me out of the store. I left on my own instead, but then she told me I wasn't allowed back in the store just for telling her my opinion very respectfully.

Ann of Portland, OR (1/1/06)
I will never shop at Victoria's Secret again, anywhere. The clerks are rude, unprofessional, and poorly trained in security procedures. As a result, they falsely accused me of shoplifting and didn't even apologize when I proved their accusations wrong.

Then at the register (yes, I bought items despite my experience) the clerk wrote down all the information from my driver's license, ostensibly because my credit card didn't swipe. I believe she took more information than necessary. I would like to know the store policy for taking personal information from customers when a credit card has to be keyed in instead of swiped.

I am angry and will never shop at Victoria's Secret again. The unprofessional behavior of the salesgirls was insulting and rude. I was publicly embarrassed and emotionally distressed.

Susan of Myrtle Beach, SC (1/2/06)
As I made a purchase in the Victoria Secret store, I happened to mention to the cashier that the wire on the Victoria's Secret bra that I was wearing had popped out. She informed me that I could swap it out for a new one. Wow! So as she finished my sale (purchasing one bra and exchanging my broken one for a new one) the manager came over. She stated that she could tell by looking at me that the damaged bra was too small and no wonder it broke. I was shocked that she would make such a private matter public to the seven other people in line behind me. I told her this was a conversation that should take place privately in the dressing room.

She then walked from behind the counter to me with a tape measure in her hand, asking when was the last time I was measured, and telling me to raise my arms. I told her you are not going to measure me in front of the entire mall and that this conversation was over. She would not let up and continued to humiliate me in front of the other customers.

She again told me she could tell by looking at me that the bra was not the right size and that if I did not let her measure me, I would not be permitted to exchange any more bras. "Lift up your arms, it will only take a minute." I asked for her district manager's number and told her if this is the way she talks to customers, I don't know how she ever became manager.

Babette of Dewitt, IA (12/21/05)
Went into the store to purchase a bra set and was told they didn't sell in my size and to go to the Lane Bryant store, or I could buy a catalog for $5 to purchase my size.

I feel I was discriminated against because of my size.

Lacey of Jasper, GA (1/6/06)
I purchased an item on 1/5/06 with my credit card. They didn't give me a gift receipt and said in order to get one I would have to return the item and ring it up again.

I work for the bank that services my credit card company and noticed that I had been charged for the transaction twice, but had not been credited back for the return. I called Victoria's Secret and spoke with the manager about the transaction. She told me I would have to take it up with the credit card company. I told her that Victoria Secret was responsible for crediting money back to the card at the time of a return, not the credit card company.

I can honestly say that she was the rudest, most unhelpful person I have even spoken with. She kept saying that the credit card company would have to do that because they did not do that in the store. I do not appreciate the way she talked to me, or the fact that the money was not credited back to my card.

Joel of San Francisco (11/30/04):
Victoria's Secret has the poorest customer service I've ever experienced. I placed an online order for a gift certificate for my friend's birthday. Over 3 weeks later, not hearing from my friend, I called to confirm she had indeed received the gift certificate. She had not and her birthday had since passed. I placed a call to Victoria's Secret and they too confirmed the certificate wasn't sent. The retailer couldn't tell me why and offered no reason that I was not at least informed by phone or email (or at all in any way) that my order was processed, then ignored.

Not only did I not get answers, but I was met with snotty attitudes by what turned out to be 3 phone representatives. All I wanted was an explanation and an e-mail confirmation that my certificate would then be sent (even though my friend's b-day had already passed. I was met with only quick, evasive comments and the runaround. I finally cancelled my order completely.

They missed my friend's birthday and made me look and feel like a heel.

"M" of Beverly Hills CA writes:
My sister ordered a sweater for my birthday in July. It is now September and the order is still on back order. The service is unacceptable. Anyone who orders will be charged immediately with no item to show for. I am still bargaining for the shipment of this pathetic sweater.

I do not personally shop at Victoria's Secret anymore. The underwire bras are horrible, cheaply manufactured, and fall apart everytime. Try Fredericks of Hollywood, they ship their orders and to my surprise and yours they have high-quality bras for women who are serious about a decent look and quality.
