Christina of Honey Brook PA (06/28/08) My husband and I were shopping at Walmart this evening with our 11 month old, as we were walking thru the store we looked at our daughter and she was choking. We immediately flipped her upside down and swept her mouth with my finger. She vomited and was able to get out what she was choking on. It was a piece of the coating from the shopping cart. She must of picked it off (which we did very easily afterwards) Thank goodness we were right in front of her and noticed. This was our first choking incident with our daughter and it scared us to death!, especially since we had no clue what she could have choked on!
We complained to the supervisor and store manager and asked that they go thru ALL of their carts and get rid of the ones that are peeling. They both assured us that this will be done. I am very interested to see if they will follow thru and I will visit back in a week to check. We wanted to alert others to this possible choking hazard. Please use your cart covers (we forgot ours) Or just don't use a cart with the peeled coating.
we only hope that she did not swallow or attempt to swallow more than the piece that she choked on. Hopefully there is no toxic componets in the coating.
Susan of Peoria IL (06/20/08) Tonight [6-19-08] my husband and I purchased two sets of outdoor furniture. We spent 567.oo and asked for help loading our car and getting the extra large boxes down from the top shelf. The young lady at the register called for assistance several times and no one ever responded. She then called the manager and he said he would send two men to help us. We waited somewhere between 30-40 minutes and no one ever arrived.
Finally a young man came but was not a bit enthused to help once he saw what we were purchasing. He said he needed help and dissappeared never to return. By this point my husband and I were VERY angry and thought abut asking for my money back but instead my husband found a latter and he and I and the young clerk had to try our best to lower these huge boxes that were stacked four tall ourselves. We then had to carry them out of the store to our vehicle.
I am furious with the way we were ignored and it is just another reason why I hate to shop at Walmart. My husband and I are not young people and if they want our money the least they can do is respond to a call of help. The store manager name on my reciept says Jeffery and I am unsure if he was on duty tonight but no manager came to our aid either. I tried to call the store when I got home but was on hold so long I gave up. I am extremely disgusted with Walmart and feel I deserve some kind of apology or retrobution for the inconvenience and danger we could have been in using the store ladder ourselves to lower these boxes.I expect to hear from someone from Walmart about this complaint! Thank you for listening.
Donna of West Columbia SC (06/17/08) Iwas the victim of a crime in the parking lot of this particular Wal-Mart. When I returned to my car, it had been vandalized and 2 of the wheels (not just the tires) has been stolen from the passenger side of my car. I went back into the store to try to find out who has juridiction of the parking lot and if video cameras were in use in the parking lot. I was able to get in touch with the local sheriff;s department and was told someone was on the way out to me. I asked again about video cameras ans one of the employees at the service desk went to find someone so that the person in change of the cameras could have the video ready for the officer when he arrived. The law officer arrived and that is when the asst manager came out and stated he would try to locate the video. I waited outside trying to locate a towing service that could help me get my car towed back to my home.
While I was waitng the asst mamager came out with another Walmart employee and they were both looking at my car. I simply acked then if the video has been located that showed the thieves removing the tires from my car. His answer to me was I am not telling you that and I am not saying anything else to you I cannot understand why I was being treated like the criminal, I was the victim. WHen the officer returned, I requested that he have these 2 employees return to the store as they had upset me greatly, and I didn't understand why they were out there since they weren't doing anything to help the situation at all. If this is the way Walmart deals with customers that are victims of crime on their premises, then I know I will not be shopping there again. I hope something can be done about this deplorable behavior.
Amy of Porterville CA (06/05/08) I entered the store and immediately saw a basket displayed at the front of the store with Fun Pops inside. They had a clearance sign attached to the basket showing the price as $1.00. I bought two bags of the Fun Pops Fun Pops are made by BNR Global. They are pasturized freeze pops that come in bags of 36, 3oz bars. that can be frozen. I took my two bags home and froze them. The following day my 20-month year old and I enjoyed one. Unfortunately, about 3 hours later, we both had diarrhea. I assumed we caught a bug. This went on for the rest of the day and through the evening.
The following evening I went to my freezer to get a Fun Pop and looked at the tab that keeps the bag closed. The tab shows the expiration date (These are the same tabs you will find on bread bags). The expiration date on both the bags I purchased read: EXP FEB 2007 This is over a YEAR expired! Immediately I thought of the day before and how my son and I got sick! I was thankful that we had only had one Fun Pop. I called Wal-Mart and asked to speak to a manager. Debbie introduced herself as a manager and I explained my above story. She immediately asked me if I had been to a doctor. I told her no. For one, it was the weekend. For two, when we were sick I had not known about the expired product and thought it was just a bug we had gotten.
Debbie stated that it was not really an issue than. She stated she would have to contact her superviser and have the product pulled off the floor immediately. I asked her what I needed to do. She stated I could fill out a complaint form, but it was really the fault of the company who delivered the product to them. I told her she was incorrect, it was Wal-mart's fault for putting the expired product on the floor to sell. And above that, they had hand-picked the product off the shelves and put it in a basket for clearance. Debbie stated that this product is delivered to them weekly and the company who delivers it to them should be held accountable.
I left my name and number with her and she stated she would call me back after noon the following day. Debbie never called. So now I have two bags of over-a-year-old expired Fun Pops in my freezer that I should only eat if I want to get sick. Today I will try to call Debbie and I will ask to speak to the store manager so I can get this resolved.
I exposed not only myself, but my 20-month-year-old son to Fun Pops that were expired in Feb. 2007. We both became sick with Diarrhea. Wal-mart's representative did not want to take responsibility for the error. There are a number of other consumers who are not aware that they have purchased the Fun Pops. How many other products are being sold by Wal-mart that are severly expired? How can a company sell products beyond their expiration date and not take any responsibility?
Bonnie-Lynn of Urbana, IL (05/06/08) I parked my car away from everyone to avoid anyone scratching it as this world seems to be full of inconsiderate people any more, and I am tired of door dings and bumper scratches on my cars. Well, that was also a big mistake. While I was inside shopping, the wind caught a shopping cart and starting pushing it across the parking lot enough to pick up quite a bit of speed. It plowed into the side of my car and caused 800.00 worth of damage. This all happened while I was shopping and the Walmart management and staff were out there taking pictures and of the accident and had already contacted their insurance company.
After I was alerted by the gentleman that helped me out to my car and pointed to my fender, I was asked to go back inside to complete the Claim form they needed for their insurance company. This happened on Friday 5/2/08 and was told that their insurance company would call me on Monday to work on the claim. They did call me to get the information from me and said they had to review the video. Well they called me back today 5-6-08 and said the video does not show evidence and I am out of luck. No Video, well guess what, I guess if you park to far away, your car is not on surveillance. This just is not right.
I smelled a RAT yesterday when they called saying well....we need to look at the video first. I spent $363.00 Friday and spend at least 200.00 per week in groceries at WalMart. I will never shop there again if this is how they treat their customers! Now I have major damage to my car that I have to pay for when Walmart should be 100% responsible. Take note everyone, if you go to a Walmart parking lot, make sure you wheel in all of their lose carts for them as I guess it is not their job or concern to keep their customers and their customers property safe. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Time off from work for Appraisals and Insurance Adjuster quotes and finding reputable body shops. This is a metallic paint that is going to be next to impossible to match. $250.00 out if pocket deductible expense.
Jane of Sioux City IA (04/30/08) Any Walmart Store who puts a deranged person in the managers room to vent his frustrations out and totally ignores the signs that the person needs help, Is not a walmart that anyone sould work for. Also not warning any of the employees that this same person threadened to kill everyone and burn the place down. Would you call this YOUR WALMART????
Consequences were, this same person killed two little girl a week later.
Caitlin of Thunder Bay OTHER (04/23/08) I bought a cosco juvinelle stroller from walmart about 2 months ago just before my son was born. he is now almost 2 months. Anyway i put the breaks on and it continued to roll So i'm not impressed with that, and apparently people have had issues with these strollers from walmart, no wonder they were clearnece! Anyway I'm not impressed with the stroller nor walmart, as it is so old they haven't got the stroller in their system anymore.. SO Now i'm stuck with an unsafe stroller until we deal with walmart. Not impressed. And it doesn't turn properly so i don't know what to say about this stroller! other then it isn't great quaility.
My son isn't safe in it as far as i'm concerned.
Irene of Seagraves TX (04/23/08) This incident happened on 4/18/2008 at 10.57 am. My husband and I went to the walmart located in Tahoka hway in Beownfield ,tex.before we started home , I asked my husband to wait for me.I told him that I was going to the restroom, He had some merchanduce and since we both are elderly, and I was the only one in one of their scooter that they have for disabled, I told him to wait for me.I am 72 years old am a parkinson Patient, can hardly walk,The restrooms are in the rear of the store, there is only 2 stalls on th restoom. Rupa of San Antonio TX (03/16/08) While shopping at Dezaval Walmart (San Antonio), a rack fall down its own and hit me on my forehead. That resulted in a bad injury with stitches on my forehead. My parents were with me, and they and some of the employees found that the rack was not placed properly. This shows a negligence of the store manager and the staff. My one-and-half year old son was with me during the incident; I saved him with all my force but could not save my forehead from the injury.
I have a pain on my head, stitches on my forehead. The stitches will result in a permanent mark on my face (as per doctor who gave me emergency treatment at Methodist hospital). More, I am afraid of going to any shopping mall with my child.
Nicole of Tiltonsville OH (03/12/08) My vehicle was damaged in a local WalMart parking lot. There were shopping carts blowing around the lot and one hit my van. The manager of the store felt that the claims dept. needed to have a look at the security footage, as he believed that this may be Walmart's fault. The claims dept disagreed! They will do nothing to help me. I disagree and want to exercise my right to have this looked at in small claims court. I called my local county court and as soon as I mentioned the name WalMart the secretary replied, Oh, our judge gets very nervous when a corporation is involved, because of all the loopholes for corporations. You'll need to contact an attorney. I'm amazed! I have no personal vendetta against WalMart, I'm not trying to get rich quick, I just want my van fixed! I am disgusted that our legal system would be so intimidated by a corporation that they won't even let me file a small claim. I feel that this is a matter that should be heard and a fair decision made.
Damage to the back of a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Van.
Max of Las Vegas NV (03/03/08) The carts at this store are an embarrassment to their company. They 'had' the security wheels and never worked correctly, but now about one in five work properly. I don't know why any manager would not replace these carts.
Carts work so poorly that I try to shop elsewhere.
Jesse of London KY (01/29/08) Tuesday January 29th, 2008 10:30pm. My sister and I pull into the Walmart parking lot in her new 2008 Eclipse. As we pull into the parking lot, the wind picks up and shopping carts are flying around the parking lot at high speeds. My sister's car is hit 3 different times. We leave the parking lot for fear of more damage to her car. We get back to our house and notice a dent and scratch over the tire on the passenger side back tire. Tomorrow she will take it to the state police post to get an individual police statement and determine the rest of the damage to the car.
I am upset because my sister is crying, I called Walmart to speak to a manager. A little background on why my sister was so upset, she returned from Iraq in October after spending a year over there serving our country. She managed to save up enough money to purchase and payoff her car. I contact the Manager at walmart, it is now 10:58ish, and explain what happened. His response was that he had to pull in his people because of the weather. Granted, I understand employee safety, however the wind had just picked up when we got there. I asked him why were the shopping carts not brought in prior to 10:30pm, his response was that he did not know what went on prior to 8:00pm when he starts his shift. He explained that she would have to contact her insurance to file a claim that they were not responsible for property damage in their parking lot. So I stated, because they (Walmart) did not have their carts up at a reasonable hour, that my sister's insurance is going to go up. He stated that there are signs posted, which I have never seen. My concern is; what if an elderly person had been trying to get to their car and was hit by a shopping cart when the winds picked up, would it be that persons fault because Walmart does not make sure that their shopping carts are secure? Or, even worse a small child. Regardless, if it was a person or vechicle, Walmart needs to be aware of their actions and use safe precautions to protect their customers. I don't feel like the people who shop at this store should have to spend their hard earn dollars repairing their possessions because of poor management and lack of safety procedures.
Carolyn of Lindale TX (01/29/08) In 8/2004, my husband and I were in Walmart in the sporting good dept. My husband asked to see a pellet gun that was in the case (which is usually in a plastic wrapper). The clerk handed him the gun and the gun went off shooting him in the hand. The clerk passed off the fact that the gun was loaded in that security had caught someone stealing the gun and they must have just put it back in the case and not checked to see if it was loaded or not. We went to the emergency room, then to a hand specialist. (the pellet gun (pistol) was high powered). The specialist put my husband on Vioxx. He was on it for 30 days and kept complaining of feeling bad. The doctor told him to stop taking Vioxx. Shortly after stopping the medication he had his first in a series of 3 strokes and a pulmonary embolism.
The consequences have been life altering and devastating. At the time of the first stroke my husband had just turned 50.
Erlene of Petersburg VA (01/25/08) I have purchased a Conair Prostyle Hairdryer #1875 from Walmart in Colonial Heights, Va. The cord, while being in use, melted. Actually, it was the tip of the cord where the prongs are. This is the second dryer I have gotten from Walmart and they both have done the same thing. The first I returned and the Associate insisted that it was from a bad socket in my house, and she stated that she will do it this time. Now the second dryer has done the same thing and this time it was plugged into an extension cord not even in the same wall that it happen the last time.I feel that this is a fire hazard and also a defect that needs to be looked at before someone get seriously hurt. Their attention to the matter would be greatly appreciated and also a replacement of this product to myself. I was very upset to hear one of their associates blame me for a defective product that I purchased from one of their stores. I love to shop at Walmart but if this is the kind of service that I will get for shopping there I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
Patty of Monroe NY (12/27/07) This is store is filthy, the floors are dirty, and there are products all over the floor making it hard to get through the aisles. When you want help no one is there to help or they don't know anything. There are never enough cashiers and you can stand in line longer then you spent shopping.
Vonda of Meade KS (12/20/07) The Dodge City, Kansas Wal-mart and Liberal, Kansas Wal-mart have both gone downhill. The appearance of both are dirty and no one seems to care. There are toys, and several other misc items all over the floors throughout the aisles. Recently, my husband went into the bathroom in Dodge City Wal-mart and refused to use it because it was so messy - it must have been bad if he didn't want to use it. Just yesterday, 12/19/07, I went to the Liberal, KS Wal-mart and there were items laying all over the place. The check out lines were congested with a wait time of 20-25 minutes. The check out/cashier was constantly talking to another person as she was checking people out. She should've been moving much faster. I had my mom with me and my aunt, and they told me the bathrooms were the highlight of the trip & I missed it, they joked. They said it was absolutely, horribly messy! The Southwest Kansas Manager needs a talking to. The employees should take more pride in what they are doing and clean up the stores in SW Kansas!
My mother has a vision problem and with stuff laying all over the aisle, that creates hazards for not only her, but for other handicapped people! Not to mention the spread of germs that comes from the unclean, unsanitary bathrooms!
Jamal of Cedar Hill TX (12/04/07) We bought some steak marked USDA select that we chicken fried and they was awful. It was as hard as bricks and I wouldn't feed it to my pet because he wouldn't even smell of it. This happens all the time. Now we are out the money we spent and have recourse to get our money back. And my wife and I got sick.
Treva of Highland IL (11/17/07) I purchased a set of 16 piece Christmas dishes at the price of 10 dollars and while hand washing them the handle snapped in half and sliced my thumb from top to bottom. 10 dollar deal costs 5000 in medical bills and loss of the ability to function! They need to state that there one time use or not sell them at all they are less than sub-standard and it is a terrible thing to sell to people . When coffee is place in the tea cups they will fall off there only glued on so some one is going to receive a scalded body part and perhaps a deep laceration as well!
Kurt of Great Meadows NJ (08/19/07) Alittle over a year ago I purchased a pair of work boots from Wal-Mart. Shortley after my feet became very painful, symptoms of Nueropothy ( Burning, itching, very sensitive, some degree of numbness. I went to the doctor and they have not been able to determine the cause. Recently I was speaking to a girl at work and her husband has the same symptoms and the doctors also can't find a reason for his pain. She mentioned he was in construction and that one day his feet hurt so bad that he left the job to buy a new oair of boots, hoping this would help. A bell went off in my head and I asked her if he had ever purchased a pair of Brahma boots at wal-mart, the boots are made in China. She said that he had and that it coincided with the time frame when his foot disorder appeared. I thought that this may be more than a coincidence but have not found any information of a recall or defect listed for these boots. These boots had a oder (like a chemical oder ) all there own and I was wondering if we were exposed to some chemical that did damage to our feet. The damage if caused by the boot appears to be permanent, I stopped wearing them long ago and still have the same condition.
Randy of Hurst TX (04/09/07) I bought a big pink stuffed Easter Bunny. I got it home and noticed little sparkly fibers all over everything. What it is is very very tiny little fibers and they float around everywhere.
It really affected my nose and allergies.
These things need to be recalled or tested to see if they need to be recalled because the little particles cant be wiped off and cant be good to be breathing into your lungs.
They are made in China.
I had to take it away from my 5 yr old daughter for fear it could really honestly damage her lungs it was so bad all the stuff floating around.
Lizzy of Pittsburgh PA (04/04/07) My fiance and I were doing some shopping and we can to the produce aisle. We turned the corner and I proceeded to gather the things I needed to get and I turned back to the cart and I slid on a whole carton of blueberries. that had must have been there for sometime and not usually being accustomed to looking down to walk I moved forward without looking down. Now the manager said they do rounds for this sort of thing every 10 minutes. Well, apparently not if they were there for some time according to the video survaillance. So, I turn laying lay on the ground from falling. My husband ran to get help and the only thing they said was to leave by myself or in an ambulance. I said to call an anbulance because i samcked my head and twisted quite unnaturally. The ambulance came and I was told I had brused my hips and had a concussion, tore my left forearm muscle. When I called Wal-Mart to file a claim the said they would look into it. Not 2 hours later they called back to deny my claim. I was stuck with all the medical and ambulance bills.
I lost almost my appartment because I couldn't pay rent that month due to the medical bills. I just can't believe it took them 2 hours not even 2 to eny my claim saying the don't have medical liability. What, are they too perfect to be covered in case of an accident?
Sherrell of Fairburn GA (03/02/07) My 7 year old son fell extremly ill when we got treatment from a local emergency room they could not diagnose him with anything but the symptoms he was having. Vomitting, fatigue, stomach cramps, diarreah etc.
My son was miserable. He cried and vomitted and quinch his stomach. He was sweating and in alot of uncomfort.
Deborah of Marietta SC (02/21/07) The model Ch920 Maxi-Heater Dream Tower was purchased December 2005. The Heater started to spark in my house. I took the product outside becuase of the smell. About 30 minutes later, I noticed smoke blowing by my window. The Maxi-Heater had caught on fire. After 2 buckets of water later I put the fire out. It had caught some of my porch on fire as well.
