I researched car seats online and decided on the Graco Nautilus at Walmart.com which was $127.44. I made a special trip 30 miles away to purchase this carseat at a particular Walmart because it was not available any closer. When I got to the store the price was $149! I had an associate paged to the area to explain the pricing and no one ever showed up. The department manager at a difference Wal-Mart (on Campbell Ave.) didn't understand why the walmart.com price differs from the in store price, but that's just the way it is. We are going on vacation soon and don't have 7+ days to wait on site-to-store shipping.

I even called the corporate headquarters in Arkansas to explain the situation and was told that walmart.com is a seperated entity. What? She preceded to get hateful and rude with me and even questioned how long I had been planning my trip and implied I should have tried to purchase the seat sooner! I told her how long ahead I planned my vacation had nothing to do with it. I just found the seat online this past week! I told her I would be buying the same carseat from Toys R Us on July 4 with a $20 Toys R Us coupon which would make the seat $130 and I can just walk in and buy it on the spot instead of purchasing it from Wal-Mart.

Isn't this false advertisement? With gas being $4/gallon I wasted 1/4 tank traveling 60 miles to purchase a product that was advertised at a specific price but was not available for that price when I arrived at the store.

Jean of Port Jervis NY (06/23/08)
One June l,2008 I purchased a 5 piece patio dining set for $297 - on June 23 (this date) I noticed that the same set was on sale for $197 _ I went to Customer service for price change and was told that price changes was only good for 7 days - I was also informed that in order to get a price change I had to bring the item to the store for a refund and I could purchase the item again at the new sales price. I understood this, however, please bear in mind that this was a very large item and the fact that I am 81 years old and drive a small car, this procedure proved to be a problem.

I asked my neighbor if he would help me return this purchase and I had to pay him $25 for him to use his vehicle and GAS. I do understand that you have to make policies and that they must be adhered to, however, this happened to be an extenuating circumstance. I had to use 2 stockmen and their carts and their time to bring the purchase into the store, I could have purchased a brand new patio set still in the boxes instead the stockmen had to bring the set back to the truck for me to return home, by this time I am exhausted and my blood pressure is out of control, why did'nt a representative just look in our truck and check the fact that everthing was as it should be, in fact why did,nt a representative just hve me bring in the cushions??????or something a lot easier than what I had to experience.

Extreme exhaustion and out of control blood pressure

Yesterday, June 20, 2008, my teenage son had been saving to buy an X box game priced at $30.00. He had his money in hand and when he took it to the register it rang up at $63.92. The sales person sais I must have rung it up twice she checked and said no, that is how much it is then promply turned around and pulled ther $ 30.00 price tag off the display!

I believe this is misrepresentation. It is no point complaining at this Walmart. so I figured I would try this route. I would like to know what if anything I can do about this. Thank you

I own a small buisness and shop for myself ,family ,buisness ,and others.I bought several cases of paper towels and it was posted as $1.68 per pack. When I got to the register it was $1.74.All together it was $1.20 over what it was suposed to be.I talked to the manager and the cashier ,but neither helped.I caled WalMarts corporate office and told them I was going to call the Better Buisness Bureau.I will never shop at WalMart again.

No damage to me ,but I feel cheated and stole from.

Danita of Jacksonville FL (06/06/08)
I purchased 9 items of the 9 items 5 items did not have the correct price scan. The brought to the cashiers attention she stated it would stop the line and take up time.

an overcharge of at least $1.50. This can have a detrimental affect on some individuals due to the current economy if many items are purchased.

Roger of West Columbia SC (06/05/08)
Went into Electronic Dept to purchase a Pre-paid phone choose a phnone for the price of 14.84 or 14.97 ask the cashier if she could unlock WALMART'S safety device because I wanted to purchase the phone. She took the phone to the cash register and rang up my purchase. THE PRODUCT WALMART STAFF PLACED ON THE SHELF PRICED AND SERCURED AT $15 (it was a few cent less $14.84 or $14.97) WAS NOW RINGING UP AS $99.87

there was three of these phones stock in the same place I got my phone from workers started to take stock the phones in the correct spot. She called for Management when the assist Manager came she stated they could only take $20 of $99.87. At that time I told her that it was their mistake and they should honor the price THAT THEY (MEANING WALMART) PLACED IT ON THE SHELF AS 15$ AND SOME ODD CENTS (after taxes).

I've called 1-800 Walmart twice while addressing the problem. They gave me The Store Manager and District Manager's phone numbers. I would like to know if there are any laws on the books that would address this issue. It's about doing the right thing.

Willi of Sterling CO (05/05/08)
Recently the city of Sterling, CO has announced that our drinking water has levels of uranium above the standards set by EPA and suggested we use another source of drinking water. Prior to the announcement, the Wal-Mart here sold case of 4 gallons of drinking water for $2.04. Single gallons sold for $0.68.

I went to Wal-Mart Saturday May 3rd,2008 to buy cases of drinking water as I had done for over 2 years I have lived here. The price under the cases on the self reflect the $2.04 cost, however, when I got to the register, was told by the clerk and by the manager on duty both that they no longer sell the water by the case. I did point out it was priced that way on the self, but they refused to sell the water by the case.

Since everyone here is now buying water to drink, and we are a small town with limited stores, I feel they have made this adjustment as a means of soaking the community for extra revenue. I think this is taking advantage of a community that is already suffering. Many can't really afford to buy drinking water, but have no choice. The few extra cents mean a lot to them. Thank you for listening.

Michelle of Quincy MA (04/30/08)
I picked a couple of K cereal bars in Walmart, Quincy. The price on the box was 1.98 but the cashier rang in 3.50. When I pointed it out to her, she went to make a phone call to someone then came back telling me that she's only a cashier and go with whatever price the machine listed, then she proceed with other items. A man in the Walmart uniform stopped by. When the cashier briefted him the issue, he said 'someone sticked the wrong price on the box'. I said to him that not just that box, I have another box with the same price. He still insisted that I have to 'pay the price in the machine, not on those boxes'.

I've asked to see the manager, they told me to go to customer service. When I told Debbie at customer service, she said, with an unpleasant voice, that 'I can give you 1 box'. No apologize. I indicated to her that other stores such as Stop&Shop or Shaw would have give customers the item for free if the price tag were incorrect, but that's not what I'm looking for. I just want those boxes of cereal and what to pay the price labeled on the box. She said each store is diff. I've asked for the manager but she ignored me. Isn't that illegal practice?

Just so that you know, this isn't the 1st but the 3rd time it happened to me, and very single time I've got that kind of 'so what', 'who care' attitute from cust serv person! I don't shop here often, (2-3 times a year), even though it's only a few miles away for that reason. I hope no one has to thru what I've been, especially those innocent elderlies.

Jason of Grandville MI (04/29/08)
i went into walmart to look for a pair of gloves and went back to the shoe deept. and asked the rep. that worked back there, I know you have gloves in 2 different spots and 1 is in the hard ware and i cant remember where the other spot is? She then suggested that i go over to the mens apparrel, so i did. When i got over there i noticed that there was a bunch of different gloves that had been priced wrong the tag on the rck said they were $2.96 and the tag on the gloves said that they were $9.46 so i took a pair of gloves up to the sevice desk cpounter and asked the clerk up there if i could get a price check , so she did.

I had no problems what so ever with her so the store manager started getting rude with me telling me that was wrong and didnt evev call the mens dept. to verify or anything. sothe rep. called back there and sure enough the gloives were $9.46sio i said ok and walked out of the builing, and headed towards the bus stop.I made it about 50' outside the builing and the store manager chased me down and outside in front of everybody he started accusing me of changing price tags and/or shoploifting.

there was no physical damage other than the confrontation in front of all the other patrons that were outside of walmart @ the same time that i was. it was quite an embarressing time for me.

Frank of Boise ID (04/28/08)
In the oil filter dept, they had a sale tag in front of the original price tag and sale tag said it was $9.97 now $7.97 but original price tag said $7.97. So how can it be a special when the original tag said $7.97? Very miss leading thinking that it is on sale but it is not on sale

John of Fultonham NY (04/27/08)
i wanted to buy a bike trailer for my 2 daughters.it had a sticker on it that said $77.67 when they rang it up it said 88.00.the cashier called for a csm.they told us we couldn't have it for 77.67 because my wifes is an associate there and shes with me.they pulled the 77.67 off the box.

my wife told them she didn't want it for 88.00.i went back in and got the last one from the shelf with the same stickers on it.i took it straght to the service desk and asked why i couldnt have it myself for 77.67 im not an employee there and my wifes not with me.they said its there policy not to do price overrides for any members of an employees families because it takes away from their benefits,my wifes been there 2yrs has no benefits.and we spend 1/2 our weekly income there for groceries because they ran every business pretty much out of our area.and this whole deal has put my wifes job in jeapordy because we stood up for what they are doing to people thats just wrong.

i ended up paying 11.00 over what i rightfully should of.and my wife could get fired.

Paul of Rochester MN (04/13/08)
Walmart lists item number 000550652 (PS3 Sixaxis Controller) online for $39.88. One option is to find it in a store, with the other two options being, ship to your house or ship to the store for pickup. I choose the option to find it in a store and it listed that item as being in stock at a Walmart about 8 miles (twenty minute drive) away.

I went back to electronics and found the item but noticed it was priced at $49.98. I asked the employee if he could scan the item and he said it wasn't necessary because $49.98 was the correct price. I explained that I had looked up the item online and it was a lower price. He then pulled up the Walmart website and confirmed I was correct. He informed me that I could go home and order the item online and could then pick the item up at the store, if I wanted to get it for $39.88. Otherwise, I would have to pay the $49.98 price.

I then went to customer service for some clarification and the customer service employee stated that she didn't know how the online/in store pricing worked. I then talked with a customer service manager (Stacy) and she was equally confused by the policy. She stated that I should just go order the product and then pick it up at the store. I informed her that I had already driven twenty minutes and that they had plenty of this item in stock right now. She stated that the warehouse would send in one for me and that is why I would have to go and order it. I explained, it would be the same item they currently have in electronics and she again informed me that she really didn't understand how it worked.

I then asked to talk to another manager but he (Scott Co-Manager) was too busy or didn't want to come up to see me. He related to her that if I wanted that price, I would have to go and order it. I explained several times that one of the options listed on the Walmart.Com site was to find this item at a store. The only price listed was $39.88 and that if that price was not going to be honored in store, it should state that clearly on that page.

I then called 1-800-Walmart and talked with Tammy. Tammy didn't seem to understand the online/in store pricing either but stated that the online and in store prices aren't always the same. I explained as a customer, if I use the find it in a store option, I expect the price to be the same as what was listed by the find it in a store option. I feel like I was tricked in to coming to the store only to be told I need to go back home and order it, or pay the higher price. After looking at the website in more detail, on another page, in small print there is some mention that prices online may not be the same as the instore pricing. However, this is not listed clearly where the find it in a store option is and so it is very misleading. Clearly, they need to list that prices online may be different than in store and to call prior to visiting the store. Of course they won't do this though, because they want you to go to the store.

20 Minutes each way driving to the store. 30 minutes in store trying to get an explaination as to why the price was not honored in store. 10 Minutes on the phone with Walmart customer service. I feel that a find it in store option that has a price listed online, should be honored in store. Clearly this is misleading and is a tactic to get people to visit the stores.

Darlene of Holly Springs MS (02/20/08)
Walmart in Holly Springs is a JOKE! They make their own rules as they go.. for instance Walmart says they honor all competitors' ads. Well in Holly Springs, they honor them when they feel like it. For instance, recently I took an ad there, it said Pork Sirloin Chops, I found Walmart it said Sirloin Chops in Big Black Letters. My ad price was 79 cent per lb, their price was something like $3.50. The cashier went to 1 person and asked about taking it and they said yes, then she went to another and they said yes, she kept on until she finally found someone that said no...the reason I was given was ours is boneless, my competitor ad DID NOT say boneless or bone just Pork Sirloin Chops. They refused to honor it. They do this all the time! Today they wouldn't honor one for beef roasts. Then they ended up giving me a receipt that had a place for me to take a survey! The workers are incredibly rude, I asked a worker to call someone to cut me some material one day and she refused! I go 60 miles to shop now.

Gerrie of Tamarac FL (12/15/07)
I purchased a VFlash/Car at $49.96 on Dec. 8. Yesterday I noticed an ad from ToysRUs with the same car on sale at $39.99 and this was a special sale for two days ending at noon today. At 10:00 AM this morning I went to Walmart with my receipt and the ad and was told in order to get credit for that price I would have to purchase the said article on the date of sale. I feel I'm entitled to the difference of $49.96 (Walmart) versus $39.99 Toys R Us price. I originally purchased said article on 12/8 and have all necessary receipts and the ad, please let me know what to do. I'm really upset about this because I had called in advanced and was originally told as long as I had my receipt and the ad I would receive credit.  I made a special trip to the store to be be rejected.

Mary of Houston TX (12/11/07)
I am an avid shopper of Walmarts around the area. WalMart has been doing price comparisons for at least 14 years as for as I can remember, since my 14 year old was a baby. This form of coupon clipping has save me much on may many purchases at Walmart. But for at least the past year or so, I have notice what I call deceptive practices at Walmart. I have notice that when one store has a sale item, the particular Walmarts I go to have been removing products from shelves, coolers and other parts of the store. I have ask at least four managers; that is how many have come and gone as for as I can remember. I have called corp. offices who said they  would call back and never did. I called managers and the phone just rang. I complained to store managers and they claimed that there was none in stock or that none was ordered.

Today was a total lost of gas and time. I was blantenly refused items on sale today. I was trying to explain to them that I know what is going on,  and then was refused service. I felt totally humilated especially, being someone that shops and spends at least $300.00 a month with this chain.

April of Baltimore MD (11/29/07)
On 11/28/07 @ 5pm, I went into Walmart to price LCD computer monitors. I had priced a few on Walmarts website and was looking to see if they had a particular one in stock that was advertised on the website for $158. I was surprised when I did find the exact monitor that was on the website however it was priced at $168 (they didn't have a floor model or a shelve marked with the price, the price was marked on the boxes, all 5 in stock).I do know that sometimes the price online will differ some from the actual price in the store but when we got to the checkout the moniter rang up for $227.

I went back to the shelve to double check against the sku numbers and to recheck to make sure there was no other labels that might have been misplaced. I work in retail and know these things happen. I found a widescreen monitor from the same manufacturer and found the box for those and the the price was $227 however that was not the monitor I was trying to buy nor were the sku numbers the same. The associate called the assistant manager to the register who looked at the box and the price and said NO, The price is what it is ringing up I don't know what to tell you.

After I explained to him that the sku numbers also didn't match he said well all I can do is give you $3 off the price that is coming up. I asked him if that was the best he could do and he replied YES THAT IS THE BEST I CAN DO BECAUSE IT'S STORE POLICY!. I asked him if there was a way he could check on the prices for me he said NO I CAN'T! I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE FOR YOU!

I ended up walking away to go back to the moniters again and I found another associate removing the price tags from the boxes. I was upset and left mostly because this is not the first time something like this has happened at Wal-Mart.

Marjorie of Plymouth CT (11/28/07)
I spent hours waiting for the Black Friday sale at WalMart in Danbury CT. From 11pm till the doors opened at 5am, with one goal in mind, to buy the 398.00 laptop for my sons christmas present. When we get to customer service, we were told that there were never any laptops delivered to the store for the Black Friday sale-even though it was advertised? The store hid the tables for the items through out the store, so to make it difficult for people to find the items advertised. What a nightmare! They did have the desk top system as advertised, but we wanted the lap tops not the desktops.

This was a ploy to get people in the store and to spend more money on different items, and absolutely smells of false advertising. Shame on WalMart, I think Target will be getting the bulk ofmy business from now on. You can also bet, that I am filing a complaint with the Connecticut Attorney General and the BBB.

Joe of Enterprise AL (11/28/07)
On November 21 2007 I received a mail flyer stating that Walmart had a 42 Polaroid HDTV for $799 available from 5 to 11 am on November 23 2007. I went to visit walmart on November 22 to see if they had one on display. I asked a person that worked there near the TV's if they had one on display. The person said no they are in the back and they will bring them out on Friday morning and they have plenty of them She continued to state that I should take advantage of the 18 months interest free financing, but I had to apply for the walmart credit card and it would take just five minutes. I applied for the Walmart credit card so I could buy the TV.

I show up on Friday morning at 4:30 am November 23 to purchase the TV. When I got there I could not find any. I looked real hard and I finally found 8 of them. I told my friend Greg that they have only a few and that I was going to wait in line near them. When they let people grab the merchandise, 4 people grabbed the 8 tv's and I was left with out one.

I told the employees there about this problem and they said too bad and there is no lay aways. I know Walmart used unethical practices to deceive me in to getting me to sign up for credit. They did this in hopes I would use the credit anyway on something else. Thats is not the case. I only wanted the TV for the advertised 42 HDTV deal.

What I suffered is five hours of hassle, a credit card I will not use, a credit check that reduces my credit and costs me the next time I need credit, and no TV.

Patrick of Carrboro NC (11/24/07)
I went to Walmart in Boynton Beach Florida and I used 2 checks to purchase some groceries. One check totaled 22 dollars and the other totaled about 73 dollars and some change. Both checks bounced on me, although I didn't know this until I was finally contacted by Walmart. There were funds in the account but Walmart had inputed the checks into their cash register incorrectly. Telecheck took over the checks and charged me $25 fee for the small check and $30 for the big check. My bank, NYC MCU in New York stated that they would refund the bounced check fees if I got proof of the fees that were charged by Telecheck, but so far Telecheck has refused to provide evidence of any fees that they charged me, only sending a form letter stating that I do not owe any checks to anyone.

I was charged $55 in bounced check fees even though the checks never bounced and was a bank error or a Walmart error.

Cecilia of Lakeside AZ (05/12/07)
I went to my local Wal-Mart to look for some badly needed brakefluid and I thought oh my gosh they have a gallon of brake fluid for only $1.07 (so clearly marked) so I grabbed it out of the twelve containers on the shelf. When we went up to the lines and waited for about 30 minutes and finally got to the front when the brakefluid rang up for $9.97 when I questioned the price the cashier tried to reach the car department 3 times and no answer. Then she called the manager on duty, the manager went back and looked and came up front to tell me it was clearly marked for something else.

I left without the product then I called back later and spoke to the store manager and she informed me that people put products down where they don't belong at times. When I questioned her on the twelve other gallons there she said that it must have been clearly marked for something else when I told her that we went back to the aisle to look it was clearly marked if you got on the ground and really studied the price she came back with what do you want?

I told her that this wasn't the first time I've had problems with this store and that I will drive the extra 10miles to go to KMART she said Fine Whatever. I can't believe that I was treated this way by a STORE MANAGER.

Thelma of Jacksonville FL (03/01/07)
i was in the store on 02-26-07 and done my shopping i also got 9 small plants for 88 cent each when i went to check out the cashier charged me for 13 when she saw she hed chadged too much she took 2 off which leaved 11 so i told her she still charged too much she saw where she had made a mistake so she went to customer service and came back and told me thr receipt was right. it is not the dollar or so when i told her it was not right and i would not come back to wal-mart she said well if thats why you wont be back thats your loss.

Crystal of Longview TX (02/07/07)
I went into Wal-mart to buy a fish aquarium. I loaded the big, heavy box in a cart and went to the express lane. When the girl scanned it, it was twice the price on the sign. I told her that and we had to wait several minutes for someone to do a price check.

Then the manager came back and said that the sign was attached to the wrong product. I asked if I could have it for that price, and they said no. I argued with them, but they wouldn't give in, so I left that big heavy aquarium, which took up the whole counter, on the register and walked out. Then I bought my aquarium at Petco.

I don't shop at Wal-mart any more. Their signs are wrong a lot of the time and their employees are very rude. Once I had to ask three different employees where an item was before someone would help me. The first just said, I don't know! and walked off, and the second one smarted off to me: It's on the other side of the store, idiot!

Carrie of Granbury TX (11/29/05):
I am 60 years old living on a fixed income with health problems. Since our town is not large I am forced at times to shop at WalMart to get some items. The past two weeks when I get home and look at my bill where I bought one item that item was rung up twice. So this week I took the ticket back and spoke with the Manager and Asst. Manager and they thought it was no big deal, their words are, "It happens all the time".

I was stunned at the attitude that this kind of service is okay, and if it happens all the time that there is no plan to correct it. How would his store feel if everytime I shopped I carried off an item I didn't pay for? I'll bet he would want to call the police, put me in jail but he thinks cheating me out of my hard-earned money is an okay way to do business.

Lynda of Webster Groves MO (11/25/05):
After reading your report about pricing discrepancies in 3 or 4 different states, I wanted to let you know that on the last two visits to this Walmart store, I was charged different prices at the register than was on the shelf. I waited at the service counter with receipt in hand for so long (not with more than one person ahead of me). I finally left the store disgusted and said forget it. I wish now I had continued to wait each time. I'm very upset about this practice.

I am on a fixed income at this time and cannot afford to pay extra for anything. I am angry that this is happening. I thought it was an accident, but after seeing your article I realize that it was not.

Pamela of Shelby NC (10/31/05):
I had a sales paper. On page 9, it had advertised $19.82 ea. PlayStation2 Greatest Hits Video Game Assortment. When I got to the store I asked for the NBA 2K6 game, and I was told that particular game was not $19.82 it was $49.82. All the games that were advertised on the top row were $19.82 and the ones that were on the bottom were $49.82.

Once the associate saw the price, she could not even dispute the amount of $19.82. At that point she was williing to call the store manager because she did not know what to tell me. She spoke to the manager on the phone. He did not even have enough respect for a customer that shops in Wal-mart several times a week to at least come to speak to me in person. He told her all he could do is give me $3.00 off and write a correction form.

As a customer, I thought that was unacceptable. It was advertised at $19.82, Wal-Mart could not prove otherwise, so I should have been able to purchase at $19.82.

Maggi of Bloomington IN (9/28/05):
I would like information on what to do when Walmart charges for what they advertise is free. I recently bought a bottle of lotion. It said 25% more free (get larger amount of lotion for the price of smaller amount and the amounts were actually marked on the bottle)... so the bottle was bigger than usual. But it cost over a dollar more than the bottle that it said I got the bigger one at the same price.

I see this at Walmart all the time on all different types of products. How can they get away with that? Does a person have to make a report every single time they see it?

Paul of Magnolia TX (9/27/05):
I want to lodge a complaint against the Wal-Mart Corporation. During the Rita evacuation in Houston, I went into the Wal-Mart store located at 3040 College Park Dr. in The Woodlands, Texas. Wal-Mart was out of cases of water but had individual bottles available that they were selling for 99 cents each.

This was their normal price for individual bottles, but they were requiring that you purchase a minimum of 24 bottles (1 case). Unfortunately they were not providing the case price ... therefore a case of water was selling for approximately $24.00. Would like to know if there is something that can be done about this. Price-gouging during a disaster is about as low as you can get.

I had intended to purchase the water and give it to stranded motorists on the highway.

Janice of Ellington MO (9/3/05):
I always find prices marked incorrect - checkers and managers get very nasty when you correct them. Why don't they fix the problem and correct the price? You can go back a week later and it most times is not taken care of so why get ugly with the customer?

Sept 2, on my way out I was stopped by a sales person and asked for my receipt. She then went through the items in my cart against my receipt. I had not even made it to the door so there was no alarm. I am almost 60 years old and disabled. I did not see them stop or check anyone else. I was embarrassed and upset by this as there was no explanation. Why was I targeted.

Because there is almost never an electric cart available I was extremely tired and sore from my shopping trip and yet had to stand and wait through this humiliating experience.

Jacquleynn of Catskill NY (5/28/05):
My boyfriend and I wanted to buy a wading pool for our kids that had a sign that said $2.88 in front of it, and when we went to pay for it it came up as 6.88. We went outside with a Wal-Mart associate and showed her she went in the store with my boyfriend and she told the consumer sevice associate that it was priced wrong on the sign and to give it to us at the price marked.

But in the time it took me and my boyfriend to bring the pool in, assistant manager John had told the customer service desk that we could not have it at that price, that they're not responsible for mispriced item. Even though that sign read the same price for 2 weeks straight, it only got corrected when we went to buy one at that price.

He had a bad additude about the situation. we have never been treated so disrespectfully before by any other assistant manager or manager.

Peggy of Sharon Springs NY (3/15/05):
I am an associate first of all. I went in the store to purchase stuff like any other customer and my 6-pk of soda rang up for $2.50 when it was marked for $2.24, but the csm said because I am an associate I have to pay the price that it rang up for because they can't be responsible for other associates' mistakes.

What's up with that? I'm a customer too, not just an associate. I should get products for the right price whether I work there or not.
