Robert of Lawton MI writes (10/1/01):
I received a letter saying that I have been approved for a credit card with the limit of $6500 and telling me to call and get it activated. I was told I had to put $199.00 down on it before I could use it. So I paid it and today I received my card and booklets but with restrictions on using it. It said I have to pay 30% of my purchases with cash or check. So now I'm wondering how I can get my $199.00 back.

The consequences of this messed-up scam is that I have 2 children and one due Nov.3, 2001. Now that I paid that money for this scam I don't have the money to get the things I need for the baby coming due to the fact that I thought I could get what I needed through the card.

Allen of Lake Worth FL writes (5/16/01):
Today I received a First National Card from the above company "guaranteeing" me a credit line of up to $6,500.00 with no interest payments, ever. Not being a total buffoon, but I thought that maybe this card was like a Fingerhut internal card, I pursued a bit and tried to find them on the web. I didn't, but I did find them mentioned in a complaint on your site. Many thanks for that!

Christine of Haverhill MA (4/25/01):
A card with an approved credit line of $6,500 was sent to me without requesting it. The card had an 800 number to call to activate it. All they require to activate it is my name and address and they charge the card over $100 to process the activation.

What if this fell into the wrong hands? Although it's not an actual Credit Card - the fact that any Jane Doe could activate it and ring up a six thousand dollar bill in my name on catalog purchases really (annoyed) me.
