Lorraine of Los Angeles writes (9/14/01):
I read an ad in the newspaper for medical billing (electronically) from your home. I responded next day. I was told that I first have to take training course over the internet. The fee was $500.00 but they were having a special for $199.00 that I could pay $87.50 for the online training after I pass the test, then call them back to purches the other half of the service which I was told was the Medisoft Medical Program.

I called back two weeks later and purchased the other half for $87.50. Then I was to go online to start practice. I started practice for about a week, called them to tell them I was ready to start, from then on I have been given so many excuses such as they just started with this and they are getting things organized, that it's going to take more time, so I wait some more, call some more and I continue to get more excuses.

I still have no access to do billing, I have not received my certificate and I am out $199.00. I contacted David Duffy 9/12/01 and requested a refund. I was told that it might be too late because my information is being upgraded in their system, then he stated I could talk to Jennifer about the refund but she is not available that much she only speaks to clients whenever she is around.

I called a few days before spoke with joe and I told him that I have not received my certificate he stated that the printing was backed up, he sent some out on tuesday and another batch would be out by Thursday, and to be expecting it may by the weekend. I still have not received anything.

Lorraine should write off the loss and move on to something real. There is no market for this, regardless of whether she ever gets a certificate. Doctors don't outsource their billing to strangers.
