The feds have caught up with this little operation. On Nov. 20, 2001 the site's owners agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they had deceived consumers by promising free Internet access and by selling personal data provided by consumers.

April of Trenton, NJ, writes:
I paid a $9.95 setup fee. For this fee I was told that I would be paid the monthly cost of my ISP (up to $22) for completing a monthly survey. I did one monthly survey and did not recieve any payment. I e-mailed several times and was told that they were overwhelmed with new members, but a check would be issued to me shortly. When I went to their website a few weeks later, they had vanished.

Rosemarie of Mt. Laurel, NJ, writes:
Rhinopoint.com is an internet service where you answer survey questions in exchange for their payment of your INS. They charge you a registration fee. I answered 2 survey questions and never received payment. They gave me a run-around why payment was not received and now they can't be contacted. This has been going on for over 8 months.

About 2 months ago I could not contact them anymore at Rhinopoint.com. At this same time a friend of mine signed with them and they charged her credit card and then she could no longer contact them. This service was recommended to me by a customer rep at AOL.

I am out the $15.00 registration fee and the aggravation and time spent on contacting them. I am also out the $21.95 a month they were supposed to pay to AOL for my internet service.
