Brian of Methuen, MA May 31, 2008

Brian of Methuen MA (05/31/08)
They deceptively obtained my personal information while I was conducting a transaction with Priceline.com who is also guilty of letting this happen while they collect a fee for throwing their customers to the wolves. Trilegiant operating under Great Fun took my information and I became a member for 11.99 a month without my knowledge or consent.

My credit card was charged for six months from Dec 07 to May 07 until I started investigating. I cancelled by phone (Hopefully) and I was refunded for one month only. This company operates under thirty-three names that I have counted.

I am out 59.95 which is not the end of the world but I would like a refund.

I received a letter that said Thank you for purchasing a membership in Buyers Advantage. I never did, but it said I was a member and that if I didn't want it, I had to cancel. I called the 800 number to cance, and to complain that I had never agreed to this membership. The man on the phone said I had cashed some check for 9.20, which I also never did. I always tear things like that up. I then asked about who I complain to, and he said Chase Bank.

When I called Chase, the customer service woman said they don't do business with this company and that she recommended I close that account and get a new number just in case that company had my card number. I then checked the internet for any fraudulent activity by this Buyers Advantage company, and couldn't find any information. I then typed in Trilegiant Corporation and the Consumer Affairs article came up. Since I did not lose money, I certainly don't expect compensation, however after losing a lawsuit, it's hard to believe that these two companies are still colluding like this.

charged for services by autovantage affiliate of Trilegiant to my credit card. a minor fee 129, but they have been involved in class action suits before. I never asked for their services and they agreed to take off the charge. But Chase Bank, who was also sued, seems to be again part of it.

Archie of Archer City, TX May 13, 2008

Archie of Archer City TX (05/13/08)
My husband noticed a charge on his bank account (Debit Card) for 9.99 per month and asked me to check it. This has been going on since November, 2007 and I called the bank and they told me that since it was on the card that they could not refund the money but that I should find out where it was from and go on-line and find out about it.

I went on-line and finally found the Complaints that had been sent on this Company and while reading one of the Complaints, I found an 877 number which I called and talked to a person named Glenn. He offered me all kinds of discount coupons, etc. and I told him No, No, No and he said that they would refund 2 months and it would be in my husband's bank account in 10-15 days and gave me a FAX to send a formal complain to.

I am sure from reading the complaints other people had sent that this is just stall tacits and we will not receive any refund and I have already told them that I am going to get a lawyer and sue. This is ridiculus.

This has cost my husband 59.94 which seems nominal but had we not caught it it might have been several hundreds.

Frank of Mission Viejo, CA May 12, 2008

Frank of Mission Viejo CA (05/12/08)
My mortgage company has allowed a promotional charge of 9 dollars per month, even after I canceled it for 6 years. I thought this was going towards principal. Other than the free gas they offered at the trial period, I have never used their product. They told me I had to contact the optional product provider as they put it. I have already written the optional product company.

In receiving a response from customer service (membership support Auto Vantage), I was sent a check for 27 dollars, short of the 720 dollars I want returned. They called it a courtesy. They are denying refunding all of my money because they claim they have no record of canceling.

In looking up my notes in my Franklin day planner, I found that I cancelled the service in the beginning of my membership (Aug. & Sep. of 2002) with about six phone calls one of which I have with a name and specific date and phone number. My plan is to write the president of Trilligent, certified, returning the check for 27 marked void, requesting a full refund, and giving the dates, name, and phone number of my cancellations. Or, would it be better to let the Comptroller go after Chase, (or my complaints with the B.B.B., and Attorney General) and not volunteer this information that I looked up back in 2002?
