My Chase card was charged for 69.99 by a company called Trilegiant transaction details as follows: 04/28/2008 04/30/2008 Sale TLG*EVRYDAYVAL88426025(Services and Merchandise) 2469 - 69.99. I have not accepted or agreed to any transaction with this company. The first time I became aware of this company was when I was charged the 69.99 on my credit card. I asked Chase Credit Card to reverse the transaction.

69.99 and they are going to charge me a monthly fee. Monthly fee unknown.

Sean of Arlington, TX May 5, 2008

I have recently fell victim to a Negative option marketing scam. I received a small check -8.25 in a Chase envelope with chase logos. Assumed it was a pay back check (on the check it stated it was for cash back on my purchases) and cashed it. What I actually cashed was an agreement to a membership. Much to my surprise Chase was elatedly involved. I have noticed charges on my credit card since that are from TLG*LIVWEL (Services and Merchandise)?, TLG*AUTOVNTGE (Services and Merchandise)? for consecutive months with charges ranging from 11.99 to 89.99. I was unknowingly enrolled in a membership that I have no idea about. I found out Chase is involved in the scam with Trilegiant.

Sixteen states have reached agreement with Trilegiant Corporation and Chase Bank USA, settling a negative option fraud case in which the companies were charged with deceiving deceived consumers into paying for membership programs. We alleged that Trilegiant mailed solicitations to consumers with small checks, typically for 2 to 10, that many consumers mistakenly thought were a rebate or some kind of reward, said Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller.

The public needs to be informed about the scam Chase and Trilegiant continue to pull. The companies have not reformed their marketing practices under the settlement. I intend to contact in person the bank manager in an attempt to reimburse my money. Even if the money is reimbursed there are still many people getting scammed by these big companies, big companies that continue to steal from the public. It is an outrage they can continue the check marketing strategy Attorney General Tom Miller describes. The last person I would think to pull Negative option marketing scam on me would be my BANK!

They keep charging my credit card for services I did not authorize.

Bruce of Vashon, WA May 1, 2008

Bruce of Vashon WA (05/01/08)
After compplaints to Avis Budget, Heathsaver and J.P. Morgan Chase about illegal use of my credit card, Ms Matthews of Trilegent send me a letter expaining that they did in fact buy and sell the credit card information in question and does not accept the terms requested of destroying the credit card information.

Trilegiant has already pled guilty in the State of Michigan to fraudulent use of this information on December 11, 2006 and assured the court that they would discontinue these practices1. The judgement was only valid in nine states.

Credit card will need to be destroyed and reissued as a result of identity theft resulting from the illegal use of information obtained by Budget car rental. Costs including time of bank officials and issuing companies is between 5,000 and 15,000 per occurance.
