yousandra of oak leaf , TX August 18, 2009

i came in kroger to purchase a few items at 10:00 pm when i got ready to check out the self check lines were only open. i told the checker laurie i dont usually do self check i told her that i had 2 free coupon for cereals and regular coupon also i wanted to use my 25.00 gift card she said ok she will take care of it at the end. when she finish she did not take off the other coupons. laurie told me i need to come back the next day because she could not give it to me i ask where is manager she said that their wasn't a manager in the store that could reverse the charges for my groceries. i just want to know that kroger is a big store and they do not have no managers that is not on duty.

finally she call a night manager over stock eric he also said their wasn't a manager in the store. so anything can happen in your kroger store and their is no one their that can handle anything. i ask laurie to give me back my money she told me to come back in the morning when customer service open. and also she has been with kroger for 30 year and she knows her job. i dont think so because that did not train her to well i feel like i was treat unfairly she walked away from me she start talking loud then i told her "i am not stuck on stupid you are because you dont know how to take off coupons you are the first person i ever been to that could not and i will report you to the head office for having someone like you here late at night that dont want to help and need more training on the job. management need to have a person that she be more qualified to talk to people.

I purchased a 100.00 gift card from Ralph's#41 Supermarket for Kohl's department store. My receipt said approved. the gift card is stolen and was packaged in a different wrapper. I spoke with a representative from Kroger gift card center by telephone and he assured me if Kohl's did not reimburse me that Kroger would. A week later he said Kohl's would not reimburse me and neither would Kroger.

I lost 100.00. H informed me that this kind of circumstance happens at least once a week in the warehouse where the gift card packaging is done. This is not acceptable I bought the gift card in good faith and now no one is attempting to show me good faith. I would like to know if there is anything I can do in this case.

This is my second complaint about the Kroger store in Sturgis, MI. Again, no cashiers just the U-Scan was available this morning. Then the scanners would not scan the items. The lady next to us told the attendant that she didn't like not having any other option but the U-Scan either. She said if the cashier was on break they needed to have another line open so people didn't have to use the U-Scans. She was quite unhappy, as we were. While the attendant was trying to help her we were trying to scan our items. 3 items scanned before 8 wouldn't. Finally, frustrated we just left all of our items and walked out of the store. The other lady said she wished she'd done the same thing. I now know of 4 customers who will never come back to the Kroger store and now I won't either. Every time we try to shop there it's either no lines open, bad cashiers, or no baggers. Just a note about products, their produce sucks and is very expensive.

I had a brace on my ankle due to a sprain ankle and I was going to the check out counter when this manager or asst manager stood behind me with her hands behind her back watching me struggle to put basket full of groceries on the counter I then proceeded to push the basket around the side of the counter so the cashier lady could easily store the grocery in the basket when this manager or asst. manger abruptly leaned over to view the bottom of my basket when she thought I was not looking the cashier lady looked at me with shame and ampathy on her face and looked back at the manager or asst manager and then looked back at me and said sadly is there anything underneath your basket that I can help you with? I said real nicely no its not. My complaint is that the same age old thing still exist within the Kroger stores always looking and following the Black customer. I will nolonger shop at Kroger until there is a customer service training initiated training employees to treat ALL customers with respect reguardless of color or race.

We bought Salmon Filet SC 9009 on 07/15/09. We baked it and tried to eat. The first bite tasted horrible ane stopped eating. For two days we had bad stomach ache and throwing out. We are disgusted of Kroger's bad service and claim compensation.

Lynn of Johnson City, TN July 20, 2009

I purchased items totaling 84.25 in the Kroger's store on Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. A cashier named Phyllis rung up my order. Before she handed me my receipt, she look at it and said my Kroger Plus card needed to be updated. I asked her what she meant. She said "Your senior citizen's discount isn't showing up." I felt as if I had been slapped in the face. I am not a senior citizen and do not appreciate being mistaken for one. I told her that I was very hurt and offended, that I was not a senior citizen nor was I anywhere near that age. Furthermore, she had no business assuming that people were senior citizens.

She apologized but it wasn't enough. I have never been so offended in my life. I spoke to the manager, Jeff, and while he apologized profusely, he didn't seem to realize or care how I had been devastated. I called the 800 number for Kroger's when I got home and spoke to someone who took down the details, apologized yet again, and assured me someone would be in touch. I left my name, address, email and phone yet have not heard from Kroger's.

Today (7/20) I called the 800 again and spoke to Katie. She checked and said the matter had been resolved, that the manager (Jeff) said they had no way of controlling "these things." That did not satisfy me at all. I think Phyllis should be fired. She offended a customer of many years' standing. I will never shop at Kroger's again. I told Katie that in the three weeks since this happened, I had spent 700 at other grocery stores since I would not be shopping at Kroger's again. She said she would relay all this to the district office and someone would be in touch. She said she was sorry it happened. Sure she was.

bob of clarkston, SD July 8, 2009

My complaint about Kroger is their deceptive practice of pricing products substantially above market and then claiming to give you a discount if you carry their card. I have compared wine they price at 16.99 for example. Kroger gives a 5.00 discount but, you can buy the same wine anywhere in town for 12.00! This is dishonest.

matt of nicholasville , KY July 7, 2009

when i came to the checkout lane the cashier (the reciept says tammy) started scanning my items and another person started bagging them. i didn't realize at the time it was the cashier from the next lane. about halfway through the checkout process another customer approached her (the other cashier) lane. she left and i proceeded to start bagging my own groceries. after just a couple of bags the cashier (tammy) said she was finished scanning and i needed to pay.

I looked up and saw that nobody else was in the lane and waiting. so i said sure just let me finish bagging these last few bags (3 bags) and i was told "NO YOU NEED TO PAY NOW." I was a little confused as to the statement but i went ahead and paid the bill. while i was paying she quickly threw my items into bags (jars of salsa on top of bread and hot dog buns in the same bag and lg. cans of soup on top of tortilla chips, etc.) when i finished paying i noticed some items still on the belt (already scanned) not bagged. i turned around and realized why she had wanted me to pay so quickly. it was so that she could throw the other customers (next lane) into bags and then resume standing and talking to the other cashier while i bagged the little bit left.

i was furious but i held my tongue and proceeded to unbag everything i hadn't bagged and put it back on the table and rebag it to keep from damaging the fragile items. while they stared and kept on talking. she has got to be one of the rudest cashiers i have ever seen.

if it happens again and no one else is in line i'm probably either going to keep bagging or say "thank you i've changed my mind about providing business to a store that doesn't care about the way they treat people" and walk out.

Vera of Howe, IN July 3, 2009

I shop my local Kroger store between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. They always have just the U-Scan or the U-Scan and 1 lane open. I don't like to use the U-Scan so if that's all that's there I'm not a satisfied customer. If they do have one lane open it is always their worst cashier, a woman named Char. It takes 10 times longer to check out with her than with any other cashier, and she is rude has no clue how to do the job properly. I think if Kroger is only going to have one lane open they should at least have someone who can do the job and be at least a little bit friendly. I just went there this morning, which is the day before a major holiday, and the situation was the same. I do not use the U-scan because I believe they eliminate jobs, so, I had no option but to go to Char. Several times over the last few months I've had other people in line with me complain about the same things. Quite of few of them indicated they would just go somewhere else from now on. I will too.

Jackie of Lake Charles, LA June 19, 2009

I went to customer service booth to pay my utility bill. The lady behind the counter walked away without saying a word. Another store employee told me that she had closed the booth for lunch. This aggravated me since is was only 11:00 a.m. and had been open for one hour. I had to drive accross town to another Kroger, but it was worth it because the lady behind that counter was friendly.
