Goodyear Responds

Michael of Port Orchard, WA January 28, 2009

Michael of Port Orchard WA (01/28/09)
Thursday Jan 22, 2009 I called around to find a good deal on replacement tires for the rear of my custom 92 F150 Flareside. 275/60/17. I reached I Goodyear in Port Orchard, wa. Glen quoted me 125 per tire for Kelly Safari Trex. I asked him if he could make a better deal 250.00 out the door. He stated he could not do that but he could do 250.00 plus tax out the door. We agreed and he said he could have the tires delivered from his warehouse on monday for install monday pm. I agreed to this.

On monday I call from work and Glenn tells me there was a mistake and my tires did not come in as he stated they would. Glenn then said he did not know why the tires didnt come in but that if I'd agree to wait another day he would make sure they would be avail tues and that he would make it worth my while by giving me a better deal. He stated there was some time of incentive or rebate that he needed to process the order in advance. He requested my customer information including credit card number to place the order. I complied. In hind sight this may not have been a good idea.

I arrive on tuesday at 3:30 and Glenn is not there however Anita assists me. She immediately hands me an invoice to sign for the tires Glenn ordered. I see the invoice at 315.20. This is not the price Glenn quoted me (250.00 + tax out the door) and it doesnt show any additional savings I was promised for being inconvenience. I am tell Anita about my phone conversation I had with Glenn and she says she can not honor anything Glenn promises me. I am about to cancel and ask for my credit card charges to be reversed, then Anita asks if she can give me a free 4 wheel alignment which is valued at 79.99. I consider for a seconds then decide to go ahead. I hand over my key ring.

I'm sitting watching TV in the waiting area when a young man approaches me an asks if there is a trick to starting my truck. Of course there is not, but I am now concerned as I gave my key ring up with multiple ford keys. I go out to my truck and find the sterring column stuck, the shifter stuck and the ignition lock ring in the the position without a key in it. I try for several mins and my key will no longer go into the ignition, attempting to move the auto shifter and steering wheel does nothig. I am a little upset enter the store and turn my key ring back over the Anita and tell her its obvious the young man forced the wrong key into the ignition and I'd like them to fix the problem. Anita hands the keys off to a mechanic who takes the young man out the the truck and I assume they use some small tools to align the ignition and they get the correct key in and the truck is taken into the by for new rear tires and a four wheel alignment.

about 1 1/2 hours later another young man comes in and hands me a clipboard saying my truck is finished and he's asking me to sign off. I look at the paperwork and there is no mention of the four wheel alginment either in the write up or any copy of the alignment results. So I ask him and he says there were no alignments needed. I tell him that may be so, but I'd like to verify it and see the results. He tells me its no policy to print wheel alignments when the vehicle doesnt need adjustments. This does not feel right to me so I go to Anita. I tell her I'd like a print out of the wheel alignment that was performed or at least what each point was at. She tells me she's sorry but the results were not saved and I'd have to either wait for them to do another or come back later. So I ask her how could I ever prove an alignment was ever done if something comes up in the future? she has no answer.

At this point I feel Like I was bait and switched with prices and tried to be bought off with an alignment that I'm not sure was ever done. I kind of find it hard to believe a 92 Ford F150 getting new tires needed no change to alignment whatsoever! Maybe I should have LES SCHWAB check it, I bet they will say it needs some correction.
I hope no harm was done to the ignition it seems to be ok after the unjammed. Seems like bait and switch for pricing, no actual alignment done that they can prove. Is this how all Goodyear tire dealers operate?

I took my 07 Toyota Tacoma to have a flat tire patched on 1/22/09 (which they did), but they never put my full sized SPARE back under the truck. I didn't crawl under the vehicle to check that they put it on there, but on my way to work the pressure light came on in my vehicle. I checked the 4 tires and they were fine, so I assumed that they put the spare in place of the patched tire and the patched tire as my spare. I planned to drop the spare when I got home and fill it and see if it was leaking. When I crawled under the vehicle, the spare was not there. The only places that my truck has been is in a parking deck at work (secure) and in my garage. The Goodyear location insists that they put it on. The floor manager stated that he crawled under there to put it up himself (which I highly doubt). Perhaps they didn't put it on correctly and it fell off....I don't know. All I know is that it isn't there.

Probably about 200 - 300 to replace the rim. Still trying to find one cheaper.

My low tire pressure light came on after purchasing tires at Goodyear in Cedar Rapids, IA. Then my low coolant light came on so I had them check it while checking my tire. Of course they came out and told me I need to replace the gasget and water pump and it would be 1,500.00 to 2,000.00. RIGHT!!! He wanted to know if I was leaving my car. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! I asked him if I could drive it and if they filled up the antifreeze. He said it would be okay for a couple of days.

I was very concerned because it had been 30 below 0 that morning. I ALWAYS get a second opinion. I had a guy that owns his own shop take a look at it. He said there were NO leaks and filled the anti-freeze up and I have not had anymore problems. I don't think Goodyear filled the anti-freeze back up and if they put any in, it was not much at all. The light came on 2 days after they looked at it. After my mechanic filled it, it has not come back on again. Goodyear and Firestone must like trying to rip off single women. Both have tried to get me. I am no fool and ALWAYS get a second opinion.

My husband took our 2002 BMW X5 to Goodyear on a Wednesday to have the driver side door lock and the passenger side window fixed. The door lock mechanism was broke which needed replacing. The problem with the window was that it would not roll up, it's an automatic window. The wasn't ready when they promissed. We ended up picking the car up four days later on a Sunday. After about 10 mins driving the car on our way to Miami, the indicator lights on the odometer dash all came on and have been on ever since.

We contacted Goodyear and they said it wasn't there fault and that they don't know how to turn them off. They told us to go to BMW. We contacted Goodyear's headquaters and they told us that the location we went to is not owned by them even though it bears the Goodyear name. We want to get the problem fixed or have the 700 that we paid returned to us. Half of the payment was placed on my Goodyear card, do I have a right to dispute the charges due to the fact that the service was incomplete?

I am glad someone mentioned those Goodyear Integrity tires. Already replaced two of those on the left front drivers side. The right front tire needs replacing also. Please don't insult me by suggesting I don't pay attention to tire pressure. I replaced the Goodyear with a Douglas tire. I will buy [one] produced by a monkey before I buy Goodyear again.
