Wal-Mart Tries to Buff Its Image

Christopher of Sullivan MO (01/03/08)
Goodyear tire recalled the Douglas xtra-trac tire. I have been there twice to get the tires replaced. The response I get is we just don't have any . I asked if there is similar tire to put on and they say no. How is it with a recall on a tire (Which is an important safety issue) can they not just put any other tire of the same size on or purchase more 14 inch tires from any other maker and bill Goodyear?

I really don't have any damage, but I do have to use my gas to see if they will replace. I realize I could call, but my wife went there last night and they said the would replace the front 2. They did not do anything but look at the tires to see if they were on recall.

Kimberly of Perrysburg, NY November 22, 2007

Kimberly of Perrysburg NY (11/22/07)
I went in to Walmart to get four snow tires mounted. When I returned home I noticed that the bead on one of my BRAND NEW tires was stripped, and the center of the hub was cracked. The tire had less than three months on it and had never been off the wheel before. It was one of a set and cost 78. The hub can't be repaired and will cost 60 to replace. When I called I was told I needed to talk to the manager; but he was not there, and he would not return calls so I would have to try again. I was told the same thing the next day. The next day I asked to speak to the store manager and was told he was not available. I was told NO manager was on duty that day. They always have a manager on duty. I'm getting the royal run around and I'm afraid that they will keep putting me off until so much time has passed that they will say they are not responsible. Who can I contact?

The new tire and hub will cost me 138 plus tax to replace.
