More about Modeling & Talent Agencies

Valerie of Glassboro, NE July 29, 2008

Me and my fiance were contacted by kids.com regarding out daughter Lillian. They said that she had come to their attention and met the criterion to become a model. We scheduled an appointment with a representative that said his name was Ed. We were to pay a 595.00 booking fee and 20.00 to the photographer to get lillian started modeling and that she would start right away. We had her first pictures taken, when it took so long for the company to post the pictures to the site we began to wonder about the character of the company. I tried to call to request a refund and found that the phone number was disconnected, yet the company had cashed the checks I had provided them. I went to the office once to find that it was dark and no one was there. I just now found the articles reporting their scam and am hoping to find some justice for me and my daughter.

We are low income individuals that risked our savings to promote our daughter into what we believed to be a positive experience. Kids.com took advantage of us and exploited us for our time and hard earned money. they wasted our time and placed us in a precarious financila situation.

Got a notice in the mail, that this company saw my child and wanted to make an appointment for modeling. So I set up an appointment and went in. Of course they wanted my child to be a model.

There was a one time fee of 595.00 for a 5 year contract. I really did not want to put out that money because I do not have that. But they put us on a three month plan. I really didn't feel comfortable with the whole thing, but they were very good at talking you into it. You also had to go to a photography studio 2 times a year and pay 20 for them to put your child's picture on the website.

I got one call for an audition for the cover of a magazine and went to New York in the dead of winter with my 14mth old baby. Only to get there and find about 200 other kids there for the same thing. I waited to hear no call backs. Ok so no big deal he didn't get it. I called the agency to ask why he had not gotten any other auditions, they told me nothing.

So one day I went to check the website to see if anything was different and here it is shutdown. The number gone, I proceded to call the photographer I had gone to for the pics and ask them if they knew what was going on. She told me that the whole thing was a big scam, they filed bankruptcy and took all of these peoples money.

How horrifing that these people prey on new parents who of course think their child is the next big model and want to make some money for their child's college fund. I am repulsed by this whole thing and want my money back. I feel so stupid for actually thinking this was a good thing I did. I should have known when I did go on the audition a mother their asked me if my son had done any work and I said no. She said what agency is he with and she had never heard of it and when I told her what I paid she said you should never pay for modeling. She also told me my son should have gotten a lot or work. So there is my story and I would love to get my money back if anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks

I lost the intial 595.00 plus the trip to New York was about 100 for the day. I feel horrible about being ripped off so badly.

I have a contract with this company for talent/ management agency for my 3 children, and the company has disappeared. I paid for my children's 5-year contract and have never received any services from them except to tell me when and where to take my kids to get their photos, that I had to pay a portion for. Outside of that first time, I have never received other services from them. I have mailed them letters, and they have been sent back to me marked return to sender. I have also made numerous calls, and the phone number is disconnected. I have contacted the BBB and informed them of the situation.

Its seems that there are many other people who are in the same boat as me. I have well over 4 years left on a contract that is no good since the company is no longer in business. And I have lost quite a bit of money and time, including my children's time--from not being able to get them a job. I have not once received a letter or a call from them letting me know that they were going out of business, and I had to find out the hard way.
