I checked in at the Ramada Limited in Vienna, IL, on October 12, 2003 at approx. 2pm. The clerk notified me that there was only one room left. First the clerk told me that the room wasn't ready, then the clerk checked a folder behind the desk and said that she made a mistake. The clerk informed me that this room had a king size bed. I informed her that the room was fine because I was by myself. I went to the room for about 5 minutes, only to put my luggage in the room. I left and I didn't return to the room until approx. 915pm. I then removed my clothes and put on my pj top. (I slept in my pajama top and my underwear). I woke up approx. 6am because the alarm clock went off (which I did not set). I got up to cut the alarm off and but I couldn't go back to sleep because I kept itching. I checked the bed and noticed that there was blonde hair in the bed. I immediately called the front desk and told the clerk that the sheets had not been changed and that there was blonde hair in the bed (I have jet black hair). The clerk stated that she believed me but that she wasn't authorized to give me a refund. I then jumped up to take a shower and noticed there weren't any towels in the room. I went down to the front desk and complained again. The clerk gave me the Owner and Manager's name to call in order to get a refund. Over the next 2 days my body began to itch really bad and I developed a rash that turned into an infection. I went to the emergency room and I was told that it was possible that I had been exposed to Scabies from the dirty sheets in the hotel. The hospital took a culture from one of the infected areas and currently I am waiting for the results to come back. I called and spoke with the Manager Pam Flora and was told that she would refund half of my money. I told her that wasn't sufficient, I informed her that I went to the ER and I was waiting for the results. I called Ramada Corporate and was informed the Ramada I stayed in was a Franchise and that this was a legal issue and they (Corporate) could not help me. I informed the Representative that the only reason I stayed at the hotel was because it carried the Ramada name. Not only was I infected but my 20-month-old son was infected because he sleeps with me. I have had to pay for the medication to get rid of this infection plus my doctor fees. Sokona should sue the hotel owner in Small Claims Court to recover all of her medical costs as well as the full cost of her lodging. Report Your Experience
