I called RCI because I am a long-standing customer to ask about trading my points for a cruise. I had an outside travel agent. I was also working with one of the promotions she was giving was for two free prepaid service charges, which would be zero dollars which is $280 save times two. I asked Dustin if he could match that for then it would be cost-effective and I would go with RCI. He told me absolutely not a problem. This was back in January when the promo was going on. When I received my receipt it made no mention of it so when I asked him, he said, " Eve you got all the discounts," and I took his word for it and that was the worst thing I could’ve done, trusting him, but I was a long-standing RCI customer so I put my trust in him.

Now it’s a few days before my cruise. I’m adding on all the additions I need and I noticed telling me that I owe service charges which I was told I did not owe. I then called. Customer service was connected to the concierge, spoke with a pleasant woman for over an hour. This was after speaking to a gentleman the day before who told me that it wouldn’t be a problem, he’s gonna put in for it. Now I spoke to the woman. She was going back-and-forth with the supervisor while I was on the phone and said, "Oh no the promotion is not there anymore so we can’t do it," and honestly, I think they should’ve honored this for me since they’re employee who I trusted did me wrong and I have been with RCI a very long time.

I then asked to speak to the supervisor. I was then told that I can make an appointment with the supervisor that the supervisor cannot speak to me right away, but they’re in meetings. However she spent the last half hour back-and-forth on the phone with me and the supervisor that I’m hearing in the background the supervisor, but this meeting will have to be after I get back from my cruise. Now that to me is extremely poor customer service that a supervisor should’ve gotten on the phone with me right then, and they are knowing that I can hear her talking in the background instead of making appointment and lying to me telling me that I have to make an appointment because they’re all in meetings. I am asking to have refunded to me all the service charges I would’ve been charges I have been charged which is $280 times four. If someone can email me at ** I would greatly appreciate it

I have had issues with RCI with a cruise purchase and not sure if we will ever use them again! We have called many times about issues with our cruise and it keeps being pushed back. We bought a cruise back in December, after they changed their format and we thought we were getting a great deal, turns out to be a horror show. I was sent an e-mail that stated we were going to get an all-inclusive cruise with an On-Board Credit with a Infinite Veranda Balcony.

First, afterwards we found out that the cabin we got had an obstructed view, but our salesman stated it was not on his ship map (this was minor to the next issue but found out later it is 40% obstructed). Second, I was talking to the cruise company (Celebrity) and found that not all of our gratuities were paid, we are missing our Dining and Stateroom gratuities. According to Celebrity, we have to talk to RCI about it. Lastly, when also talking to Celebrity, I found they have no record of an on-board credit.

RCI has been called and a complaint has been made, but that was almost a month ago when that was made. But, I called and asked originally almost this 5-6 weeks ago. We were told that they need to refer to the QA Department and review the phones calls we made with our salesman, and that was during the first call. Second time we called they said it would be 10 working days, then the next call we were told 14 working days, and now it was been a lot longer and it is still being pushed off. We just got off the phone and they stated there is still no answer and they will call us back before the holiday weekend for an update. Our cruise is now within 3 months and we have been dealing with this for almost 2 months. So far we are looking at over a $10,000 cruise for all of use, with a lot of unanswered questions. We do not know if this will ever get resolved, but, if you are looking for a cruise, I think I would NOT use RCI!

I've been using RCI for about 30 years. The basic exchange product is good. But the website goes from atrocity to abject failure. 30 years ago a member could select a set of criteria and search. Now we have to do this type of search sequentially, wasting precious time. The site is ever more prone to glitches and failures when trying to search. The ability to rank resorts by guest ranking has been removed, leaving us with the recommendations of the site which, of course, promote the stuff they are trying to flag because users -- for good reason -- don't want it. If RCI only improved the website instead of cumulatively degrading it, it would be worth 5 stars.

In march, I was in las vegas. At the south point, they had people almost knocking You down to get you to go to the timeshare, we got in there. They took us to breakfast, sold us on what a great opportunity. This would be showed us some great models that were there on the property. They told us we would not have to pay more than $199 for a seven day stay if we went to other properties that were out of state. We might have to end up paying no more than $329 we also had one free week. One bonus week.

We just recently tried to book in las vegas. The fee was over four hundred dollars for a one week Stay, I spoke to the person that sold me the contract. They said they explained everything to me. They did not. They just wanted me to pay in full my stupidity. I did. I was able to get the room after paying $450. I have a family member in the hospital. That's why I did it. I didn't get my double rooms. I only got one room. It had cobwebs on the door to open to go in not to be grotesque, but in the bathroom it had Number two in it. It was disgusting.

When I called to speak with somebody, they told me they could change my room. That's not the problem. The problem IS everything that I've been told is wrong. I asked for my refund. They said they can't give one now. This is a nightmare. I would never recommend them to anyone. They're liars. They're fraud in everything they say. They never make it right. Although they tell you they will. They lied. Period. No one told me about points. No one told me anything, except for thank you very much for paying this in full over $20k. I am so upset. I'm elderly disabled and they just lie to you. The modern version of gypsies.

We are long time RCI members in good standing since 1989. RCI is losing business as customer service has plummeted with new owners(Hotels and Leisure). Resort selections are down at least 25% in recent years under new ownership probably due to resorts cutting out the middle man(RCI) and handling all sale in-house now.

Back in December 2025, we called to bank our Sea Scape week for trade and reiterated "The Sea Scape Resort property. Normally we get a conformation e-mail but didn't notice. In March, we called back to put in our trade request and were informed that they had banked our Hilton Head Resort instead. We were sent to the transferred to Christie in escalated case dept and were informed that she was handling the case and would find a comparable unit to put family that snatched it up immediately from RCI bank and keep us posted.

In the next 2 months, we were contacted 3 times with no news, no changes so we called Christie back to get more details and updated. I asked her to give us our unit back now and continue looking for a comparable unit for them and she blew up at me. She said she didn't like the tone of my accusation that she isn't doing anything. She also said that she had contacted the purchasers of our unit and they know they have a great deal and refused to give it back to RCI. She also said that called are not recorded, she said that is illegal and then blamed us for probably putting in wrong unit request. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she barked, "I am a supervisor!" I asked to speak to her supervisor and she started going off on me again, "I have been doing everything and more and keeping in contact..."

I asked 4 times for a supervisor or manager and finally she said she would have a boss supervisor call us back within 24 hours. It's been 4 days and still no phone call from RCI anyone?!? We will be using what we have banked and never use RCI again. We looked for other resorts that we have stayed at before and a lot of them are no longer available through RCI, FIGURES...

We were told we were pre paying for 3 weeks in the Dominican Republic so we could bring our family the next time and had 5 years to use it. We called to schedule it at year 3 and was told I only had 2 weeks not 3. When I called back a few days later after they sent me the contract I was told I had 0 weeks and all I paid for was the membership dues, $5300.00. When I asked for a refund I got an email stating they would do everything via email so there would be a written record. I explained and all they want is to give me an extra discount in order to take "advantage" of what I've already spent, the $5300 + an additional $386 to get caught up on dues before they told me I only had 2 weeks.

I told them I had already been taken advantage of enough and just want my money back. Don't fall for their pitch it is pure bait and switch. Considering a lawyer now. I would never agree to something like that due to we don't do enough of that kind of traveling to get anywhere close to making that kind of a fee back on discounted bookings.

My partner signed up with RCI last year and was told he can book hotels without any problems. He was also told that he would get points at least every year. Last year he paid a total of $1200. So for his birthday we decided to go to Vegas. We were able to book with no issues. Now 2026 we are trying to book Angel's Camp for our daughter's birthday. They are stating we have no points and we won't have any for another 2 years. So the hotel we wanted to book is going to cost $600. When asked about this they stated you only get discounts. I looked up the price of the hotel and it's $200 cheaper than quoted. This place will tell you anything to get you to sign up. Why are we paying fees with no points? Makes no sense. We decided to sell.

Hello Tom, As you know, we offer availability once a deposit is approved and given to us. We have noticed a slower deposit rate due to a delay in members' maintenance fee payments. We do show you have a search started for the one resort with travel dates of 12/2026 through 04/2027. You may want to allow more time for us to receive deposits that have been approved by the resort for those travel dates. Also, you may want to consider adding more resorts to your search to better enable a match.

As a LOT of other reviews have stated; I do not recommend using RCI. I own a condo with Orange Lake/Holiday Inn and wasn't able to use my week the past three years. I didn't want to lose it, so I signed up with RCI. That's who Orange Lake tells you to use. I called and asked a lot of questions prior to making the decision because I was also considering just selling the timeshare. I saw that you could book Disney properties and when I called to confirm I was told that was possible. I made it perfectly clear that I wanted to use my points, but the truth is that you cannot use your banked points to book Disney hotels. Also, before you become an RCI member, you can search the website and see thousands of options. Just know that most of them you can't even use your points.

I also signed up with RCI to have more flexibility with my vacations and not having to book a whole week. Those options are few and far between and most of those you can't use points. You pay a fee to join RCI. Then, if you don't deposit your week as early as they want you to, they lower your "Purchasing Power" and make you pay to get the full amount back. Then, you have to pay RCI again when you book a resort, and then there's probably a resort fee on top of that.

The final straw for me was that I've decided to sell the timeshare. It's just not worth all the fees anymore. Especially when I priced out my exact week online and see that I could book it with a AAA Rate cheaper than my yearly maintenance fees. So, I let my condo bill lapse. Then I get a letter telling me that if my Holiday Inn account isn't current, I also can't use the RCI points that I ALREADY PAID FOR?! That's insane. I am done with RCI. I paid my condo bill to get current, and I'll be getting rid of that and cancelling my RCI account. It's just fees on top of fees.

The fees are ridiculous and I can never find anything good to book anymore, so I haven't been able to use it in years. I have to keep paying to combine points/weeks, pay to roll over the weeks/points, and pay a yearly membership fee. There is never any good ocean view or ocean front properties. I can never find what I want or need in the right season. Rooms available in the winter in a place Like Canada (Banff) or Europe that snows is just not desirable when I want an escape from winter. I just booked my first trip to Hawaii and I used 53 points and paid 299.00 to stay in a "resort view" double bed room and it will cost 72.00 a day to park and there is a 40.00 a day fee on top of that which is a resort fee of some kind. It is just not a good value anymore. I am so angry and disappointed! I feel like I am paying a whole lot of money for crappy vacations!!

I just don't understand how you can have a network of so many properties while at the same time have such a terrible booking platform that crashes constantly, filled with programming bugs, etc. I'm seriously considering getting rid of my deeded property specifically due to the booking issues and nature of the site.

      Reviewed March 5, 2026

My family have been owners/members with RCI for over 20 years and things have gone downhill significantly, especially in the past couple of years. Most recently, the added Resort Fees are making the RCI Timeshare no longer worth the expense. When the exchange fee and resort fees are all added up, it costs nearly as much to book at these resorts as it would without a timeshare or membership. And when you factor in the yearly maintenance and other fees for membership it basically cancels out any savings.

The resort fees are unclear on the RCI website when booking, resulting in even more work for the member, with RCI directing you to call the resort to get info about all of the fees and taxes. These fees could include as many things as mandatory resort fees, housekeeping fees, occupancy tax fees, mandatory equipment rental fees (which could literally mean having access to an air conditioner unit in your room), and the list can go on and on. Even with the most diligent pre-booking call and questions, members still may end up being charged more than expected when arriving at the resort for other hidden fees and taxes. This is NOT a pleasant way to start off any vacation.

When RCI calls out that these resort fees are outside of their control and designated by each individual resort, I would then ask them to explain what RCI's purpose or benefits are at all. If timeshare ownership and membership in a vacation club such as RCI does not afford a more straightforward booking experience where the club takes care of the logistical work and provides, not only a straightforward booking experience with clearly explained costs and no unexpected added fees and taxes, but also savings related to those costs compared to booking outside of an RCI membership, then what is RCI even here for? It is completely unacceptable and negates any benefits from membership with RCI.

On top of this, the RCI website and phone system for booking are both completely antiquated and difficult to navigate, making it nearly impossible to have a straightforward or simple time booking a vacation through RCI. All of these issues add up to RCI being a waste of money, time, and energy. RCI membership doesn't actually help improve the vacationing experience at all, and in fact often makes it even more complicated and stressful. So frustrating!

I spoke with the customer service representative who stated that there was a sale for th week I wanted it would just cost 77,000 points. He stated that I had more enough points in my RCI so I booked. Never once did i realize that he had used some of my Wyhdam points. When I looked on the website it stated that I had over 100,000 points available for RCI. So how did I wind up having no points in RCI and only 40,000 points of my 84,000 points left. Why would I use RCI and pay $500 when I could’ve used my Wyndam points at half the cost.

I called in today, February 13 to speak to a RCI agent and he stated the summary can be confusing. The points on their page include both Wyhdam and RCI. Thus available points with RCI. However, the Wyndam site state that I had 84,000 points. These summaries are very misleading. I asked if someone reviewed the recording from the customer service representative from February 5 and a customer service rep said the manager was busy. He also stated that I could leave a message. I wish I had never bought a timeshare. This is deception at its finest. This has been a waste of money. Buyer beware!!!!

Getting into this is by far the biggest scam and worst decision you could make, they are predatory vultures who will say absolutely anything to trap you into the contract and they lie upfront and then tell you that you need to buy more and more in order to actually get vacations. Don’t even give them the chance, they will do anything to suck you in and then they cancel reservations without notifying you and overcharge your card. My loved ones were completely bamboozled and now are suffering because of it and can’t even enjoy the vacations we were supposed to be able to go on.

You want to know the worst part? It costs money to sue them, thousands of dollars and if you succeed, you don’t get back any of the money you poured into it. Don’t be fooled by this, like our family was, we are suffering because of it financially, mentally and physically because they don’t even book what we need. Don’t be a sucker for these guys, they truly do NOT care about you or your family at all, all they want is a contract so you have to pay them every month and if you stop paying it’s a FORECLOSURE.

Hello Skylar, it sounds like there might be some confusion surrounding your experience and how RCI was involved. There is sometimes a misunderstanding about RCI’s role in the timeshare industry. We do not sell timeshare or own or operate any timeshare properties. Instead, we provide exchange services to timeshare owners at our affiliated resorts. Feel free to email us at talktous@rci.com if you have further questions or concerns. Kind Regards, RCI Customer Care

The customer service is horrible. I just received a call because we haven't booked our free 3 day. I am working and I answered the phone. When I mentioned to the person over the phone that I'm working and I cannot talk, she proceeds to have an attitude and got smart with me because she heard my dog barking. As a company, you should screen your reps calls. No paying customer should receive rudeness and feel like they are expecting the best. Call happen at 1:35 MST on 1/29/2026 from 689-399-2225.

My experience with RCI Travel has been nothing short of disastrous. They’ve been misleading customers into canceling their cruises and offering better rates and extras. I booked three cruises under my RCI account and was promised extras that they couldn’t deliver on. When I received my email, I noticed that the extras were missing. I immediately reached out to the agent and asked where I could find the information about the extras we were promised. He assured me that I should see them in a couple of days. I waited a week and still didn’t see them on my app. I emailed him again, expressing my concern. He replied two days later, saying that he was waiting for his supervisor, David, to approve the extras.

I waited three more days before emailing him again. His supervisor called me and informed me that they wouldn’t be able to honor the promises made by the travel agent. This is unacceptable. I’ve attached the details of the extras that were promised if we booked with RCI Travel. I’m still waiting to hear from a manager.

Gosh, it sure sounds like an awful lot of members have experienced "confusion." I've been a member for 25 years and have seen the steady decline of RCI's offering. In the beginning, the program worked great. I booked multiple exchanges to Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Hawaii, Oregon and never had a problem. Over the last 10 years, it seems that AirBnB, VRBO and similar services just ate their lunch. I have not deposited any new points in years on the advice of my home resort, but still do have points deposited I would like to use. Booking availability is, how shall I say, lacking. I will find a way to use my remaining points, but will not be renewing my membership after that. A shame really.
