We’ve been without power now for about 20 hours. I completely understand that this was due to a storm and outages happen. What bothers me is the updates I have been receiving regarding restoration of service. It has become quite obvious that the emails I get are computer generated and a new one is sent every four (4) hours when the project time for restoration comes and goes. I am on my sixth (6th) such notice. I would rather receive a message stating the Consumer’s has no idea when power will be restored instead of giving me false hope time and again. This makes me feel very under appreciated as a customer. Judging from the map of outages, it would appear that the number of outages is low as compared to other weather events. The, “All hands on deck” mantra does not seem to be in force at this time. Overall, I like Consumer’s Energy though I feel the constant rate hikes hurting more and more people.

I would give Consumers Energy zero stars if that were an option. I have been without power for 30 hours. Website stated power restored. No it isn't. Now it says 8 1/2 more hours. They should have had other crews come to help from out of state. This is unacceptable performance out of a company that gets a rate hike every 3 to 4 months. All of my groceries are going to the trash.

Be advised to all private and corporate parties contemplating moving to Michigan for business, school, family or work. Michigan provides electricity to private homes and businesses via Consumers Energy; this company has a monopoly on electricity in Michigan and is not regulated by the state or any private entity. In other states the same electricity would cost you approximately $400 per month, in Michigan the same electricity will cost you approximately $700-$1000 per month. The state politics here encourage Consumers to exploit its customers. DO NOT MOVE TO MICHIGAN unless you are extremely rich, otherwise you will lose your savings by simply paying your electric bill.

Consumers Energy is absolutely the worst company in Michigan. Rate hike after rate hike after rate hike. I mean they are literally running our pockets dry, and Michigan's senior citizens living on a fixed income have no way to keep up with constantly raising prices. It's gotten to the point that I'm not even sure if we really need power. I mean, ripping off the community in order to pay the CEO 10$ million per year is insane. I wish we could run this company out of Michigan. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Consumers conveniently didn't bill me for 3 months while there was an electrical issue in my home, causing the home to draw more than 4x the usual usage despite no one being home at the time. They then sent a $2,300 bill and offered no explanation other than their system had a glitch and didn't send a monthly bill. Had I known there was an electrical issue, I could've fixed it in the first month and saved myself $1,500+, but because of a system issue, I'm now on the hook for the full bill. A real convenient system glitch if you ask me. Great way to put the burden of your inadequacies on your customers.

I don't understand how Consumers Energy can give people an estimated time of restoration and don't follow through and just keep giving different restoration times. I am sick of being put on the back burner. My wife is on oxygen and she needs her oxygen. We are very low income. Can't afford to be buying $80 worth of gas a day to run a generator and not being reimbursed for it. I'm so sick of consumers energy. They are the worst freaking company in the world. It's a big Monopoly.

I have so much negativity towards this company that I won’t be able to write it all. I had a new construction home that took over three months to be approved and hooked up. Employees told me there is one woman in particular that just will not work and the company does nothing about it because she’s a woman in a male dominated industry. The worst is the several power failures and the long length of time to restore it. They are on a ten year tree clearing cycle and they don’t cut tall trees that are outside the radius. Underground wires in public areas are almost nonexistent. I have deep loathing for this company and I’m angry that in a capitalist economy we have no choice except to take what they give.

The fact I can't choose a different energy provider straight makes me mad. This company does nothing but steal money from the public. I have been having the same usage and my bill has doubled.

Applied for an energy rebate on new HVAC system in early October. Received email late October that it was approved. 90 days later still no rebate check. Excuse from Consumers Energy is that my application was "put on hold" while they close out their 2025 books. Wish homeowners had choices for their electricity services.

I'm single in a very small house. I wanted a small house to keep my bills small. But are they? NO ** WAY! Where I am the gas and electric are both coming from Consumers. BOTH bills for the winter (my 3rd month living here) are slowly creeping up. So they are coming to about $85+ each. I looked at the itemization...WTF? $17 was my gas charges and $33 for my electric. So that's about $50 plus I can understand another 10-20 in taxes but ALL the other amounts more than DOUBLE my LITTLE HOUSE bill. Next month is gonna be $20 more. And my daughter has a larger house and they are charging her MORE THAN DOUBLE JUST FOR ELECTRIC, over $500. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
