Linens 'n Things

Shirley of Balch Springs, TX December 2, 2008

Shirley of Balch Springs TX (12/02/08)
Nov.30th, 2008 I shopped on Linen n Things liquidation (going out of bussiness) web site and ordered 4 items totaling 89.57. I used my credit card but it kept telling me that the code number on the back of my card was wrong (it wasn't) so I kept trying, probably 5 times, maybe six times to get it to work. It never did and never gave me confirmation number for my order.

I called my credit card company and in one day Linen n Things has charged my account twice for 89.57 and I still do not have a confirmation of an order (that one order), but I am getting charged twice. I am afraid they will keep getting my money (maybe up to six times the 89.57) until I am over my limit and what a mess that will be. No live person talks to you when you call. You have to leave an email & they are suppose to contact you within 24 hrs. Well nothing from them yet and it has been that long. Guess they will try what they can to get money from people & not deliver the products. They know you can't contact anyone to get help either. This is a SCAM!!!!Beware!!!!!! Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. If it happens to you, call your credit card company fast to let them know.

I just returned from the Going Out of Business sale at the Linen's N Things store at 3902 Bissonet in Houston Tx.- One of the items I purchased had a price sticker which read 15.99 off of which I received 20% discount. Once outside the store I noticed that the 15.99 tag had been placed over a 12.99 tag (I did look at both tags description and item number, which were the same on each tag).

When I went back into the store to ask about this, Gary, the manager, simply said 'yeah it was more now and had probably once been 12.99 - When I asked when the price change had occurred, he looked at me and said - Do you really think we had time to raise the price, before this sale?. After which he turned away and walked off. As no one in the front of the store would tell me his name, I had to chase him down to ask him. At which point he said Gary, and you have a nice day. And again turned and walked away.

Perhaps I would have let this matter go, but the combination of what happened and his bad attitude has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I understand that some of these folks are probably losing their jobs but that is no excuse for surly and rude behavior. My question is Was this simply a matter of bad timing or are your discounts less than meets the eye?. Thank You

I was in linens and things friday 11/14/08 to get a birthday present for our sons 25 birthday.i bought one of the star bucks coffee mug/coffee.when i got out side,i heard something raddle in the box.so i toke it out to see what it was,and the top of the mug was broke.i toke it back in there to exchange it,and the sales clerk was very rude, and said to me all sales are final.not exceptions.i told her to get the manager,he came over, and i told him about it.that it was for my sons birthday, and that i was not going to give something broke.yeah maybe i should have checked it out better, but i just thought it was instructions on how to clean it.

it wasnt.so he did let me exchange it,i went to go and pick up my bag,and he was talking to me like i was crap, and when i went to walk away,he grabbed my bag from my hand, and would not let me leave until he said what he wanted to say.and said i don't have to exchange this for you.and he went so far to tell me if his boss found out he did, he could get in trouble.he had no right what so ever to grab the bag out of my hands to tell me that.just because they are closing all the stores, doesn't give them the right to do the things they do.he really upset me.i was shaking when he finally let go of the bag.i think he needs to be FIRED now.i have heart problems, and that didn't help any what he done.yeah maybe i shouldnt have gotten so upset when the girl sales clerk said that, but the way she said it and the way she acted, and treated me was red and uncalled for.what do they think, just because all the stores are closing, they can get away with this.

Last Nov.4, 2008 I was on Linen And things store in Alderwood Mall in WA state and have a bad experience, but the most upsetting experience is how the manager handle the situation without professionalism. I lost a 100 in seconds which I insist to the manager that maybe I made a mistakes and he made a mistakes too but all I got is not a helpful attitude and he insist that I am accusing him of something that he cannot relay on the situation. I do not have a job and 339.00 a month is the only money that I am getting from the state disability and so that 100 is a big frustration to me when it was lost in seconds like that.

I ask Manger that maybe he can show me the video of the store at that time when we are having the transaction at the counter as it was pointing on our direction. But he insist it is only for the store surroundings and not the counter. He was so mean talking to me and still insist I am accusing him of something when I told him that maybe he made a mistake taking the one hundred dollars that I am holding two times and me making a mistakes giving him the money two times also when I get confused when he asked me if I have any 2 cents. At that point I know that I made a mistake, as it is only a matter of seconds when I knew that the other 100 is missing on my hand. All I want is too see the video of that day and see what happen to my 100 bill. it happens at 1:21 PM as stated on the receipts on 11/4/2008.

When I get into my doctors appointment on that day after I lost my 100 my blood pressure is way up high and have a chest pain so I have to take my nitro.
